U.S. DOT Revocation of Restrictions Affecting Mexico-U.S. Service
Aeromexico has greater flexibility to evaluate additional frequencies and new services between Mexico City and the United States.
Sentiment and the balance of points
Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.
Rhea-AI Summary
Grupo Aeroméxico (AERO) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation revoked restrictions affecting its Mexico–U.S. scheduled services, effective October 19, 2026.
The revocation removes the restrictions imposed by the October 28, 2025 order, which had disapproved certain existing, proposed and prospective schedules by Mexican carriers. Those restrictions no longer prevent Aeromexico from adding frequencies or introducing scheduled services between Mexico City International Airport or Felipe Ángeles International Airport and the United States. Such services remain subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
How this balance works
Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.
It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.
Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.
Positive
- Moderate pointDOT revocation, effective immediately, removes the order’s restrictions on additional frequencies and new Mexico City–U.S. services.
Negative
- Minor pointApplicable regulatory requirements still govern additional frequencies and new scheduled services.

MEXICO CITY, Oct. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Aeroméxico, S.A.B. de C.V. (“Aeromexico” or the “Company”) (BMV & NYSE: AERO) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (“DOT”) has revoked, effective immediately, its October 28, 2025 order that had disapproved certain existing, proposed and prospective schedules by Mexican air carriers between Mexico and the United States.
As a result of the DOT’s action, the restrictions imposed under that order no longer prevent Aeromexico from adding frequencies or introducing new scheduled services between Mexico City International Airport (“MEX”) or Felipe Ángeles International Airport (“AIFA”) and the United States, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
Aeromexico welcomes the DOT’s decision and commends the Governments of Mexico and the United States for their continued engagement and efforts to strengthen the bilateral aviation relationship. Aeromexico also expresses its deep appreciation to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (“SRE”) and Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (“SICT”) for their leadership, efforts and constructive engagement throughout this process. The DOT determined that the actions taken by the Government of Mexico addressed the concerns underlying its prior order.
The revocation gives Aeromexico greater flexibility to evaluate opportunities to expand frequencies and introduce new services between Mexico City and the United States, further strengthening connectivity for its customers across its transborder network.
