4D LiDAR technical
4D LiDAR is a sensor that maps the shape and position of objects around it (the 3D part) while also capturing motion or timing information (the fourth dimension), so it can tell not just where something is but whether and how fast it’s moving. For investors, this matters because sensors that see movement more clearly can improve safety, enable more advanced driverless vehicles and robots, reduce reliance on expensive complementary sensors, and influence product competitiveness and market adoption.
frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technical
Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) is a radar technique that sends a steady signal whose pitch (frequency) is swept up and down over time, then measures the shift between sent and returned waves to determine how far away and how fast objects are. Think of it like changing the tone of a whistle and timing echoes to map a room; investors watch FMCW because it underpins low-cost, high-resolution ranging sensors used in autonomous vehicles, drones, industrial safety and consumer electronics, influencing product performance and market demand.
LiDAR-on-Chip technical
A lidar-on-chip is a tiny version of a light-based distance sensor built directly onto a semiconductor chip, combining lasers, detectors and control electronics in a single package. For investors it matters because shrinking the sensor into a chip lowers cost, size and power, making it practical to add precise 3D sensing to many mass-market products (cars, drones, phones), which can drive large, recurring hardware and software revenue streams.
IP68 technical
IP68 is a standardized durability rating that means a device is fully sealed against dust and can withstand continuous immersion in water to a specified depth and time. For investors, an IP68 claim signals better product durability and consumer appeal, potentially lowering returns and warranty costs while supporting higher pricing and market competitiveness — much like a waterproof, airtight lunchbox that survives rough handling and accidental drops into water.
IP69K technical
IP69K is an international durability rating showing a product is completely dust-tight and can endure high-pressure, high-temperature water jets used in heavy industrial washdowns. For investors, the rating signals lower risk of damage and downtime in harsh or regulated environments, which can reduce warranty costs, broaden sales into sectors that demand rigorous cleaning (for example food processing and automotive), and support premium pricing and longer product lifespans—think of it as industrial-grade waterproofing.

New Panoramic 360° × 90° Field of View Sensor Developed in Collaboration with LG Innotek Delivers Perception for Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics, Drones, Defense, Warehouse Automation, and Smart Infrastructure Applications

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today, at CES 2026, Aeva® (Nasdaq: AEVA), a leader in next-generation sensing and perception systems, announced Aeva Omni™, the industry’s first wide-view short-range 4D LiDAR sensor for physical AI applications. Developed in partnership with LG Innotek, a leading provider of cutting-edge mobility sensing solutions and an affiliate of the LG Group, Omni provides an unprecedented level of environmental awareness for both dynamic and confined operating environments including autonomous vehicles, drones and defense applications, robotics, warehouse automation, and smart infrastructure. LG Innotek is responsible for hardware integration, manufacturing and quality assurance of the LiDAR system in collaboration with Aeva.

Aeva introduces Aeva Omni, the first compact wide-view short-range 4D LiDAR sensor for physical AI applications.

Aeva introduces Aeva Omni, the first compact wide-view short-range 4D LiDAR sensor for physical AI applications.

Built on Aeva’s proprietary Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology platform, Omni delivers precise short-range perception with the same unique advantages of Aeva’s core technology, including the ability to detect velocity and position simultaneously, as well as immunity to interference from sunlight and signals from other LiDAR sensors, and to blooming and ghosting around retroreflective objects like lane markers, street signs and safety vests. With a panoramic 360-degree horizontal and a wide 90-degree vertical field of view, Omni enables full-scene coverage for near-field detection, object classification, obstacle avoidance, and real-time situational understanding to unlock automation for a broad set of Physical AI applications.

“Aeva Omni extends the reach of our chip-based FMCW perception platform into a class of applications where wide-view awareness and reliable 360-degree near range performance in a compact form factor are essential,” said Mina Rezk, Co-Founder and CTO at Aeva. “From autonomous mobile robots and vehicles, to drones and unmanned ground vehicles, and next-generation smart infrastructure, Omni provides a new level of safety and capability by delivering high-resolution perception across an exceptionally wide field of view.”

Wide-View Coverage for Next-Generation Automation

Aeva Omni was engineered to meet growing customer demand for robust short-range perception across multiple industries. Designed to strict standards for durability and reliability, Omni combines per-point velocity data with up to 80 meters of range in a compact 85mm diameter form factor to deliver reliable point-cloud data for environments where objects, equipment, and people may be moving quickly and unpredictably.

The combination of wide-view coverage and FMCW-based velocity measurement enables systems to detect both position and motion simultaneously, helping reduce blind spots, improve path planning, and enhance decision making across a wide variety of automated platforms.

Engineered for real-world deployment, Omni is designed to deliver reliable performance in all weather conditions, achieving IP68 and IP69K ingress protection ratings. This ensures consistent short-range perception in rain, dust, fog, and high-pressure wash-down scenarios, making it suitable for continuous operation in harsh environments.

Extending Aeva’s 4D FMCW Portfolio

Omni builds on Aeva’s scalable LiDAR-on-Chip technology, adding a transformative short-range, wide-view sensing option to Aeva’s existing long-range automotive-grade portfolio. Together, these products support a unified 4D perception platform that spans from immediate near-field awareness to ultra-long-range highway sensing.

Availability

Aeva Omni will be available in second half of 2026 for early customer pilots, with production targeted in 2027. For more information, visit aeva.com/omni or contact sales@aeva.ai.
