Azagra was appointed CEO of Avangrid in May 2022 and has a long history with the company, having served on its board and executive committee since 2019. His influence extends globally, with board memberships at Siemens Gamesa, Iberdrola Mexico and the Neoenergia Group in Brazil, among others. Prior to Avangrid, he was chief development officer at Iberdrola, where he led the group's expansion in Europe, Latin America, and the U.S. His strategic vision has facilitated more than 120 transactions worldwide, totaling more than $120 billion, and has been instrumental in Iberdrola's entry into new markets. A graduate of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and the University of Chicago, he has been teaching at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas since 1998.
NYSEG and RG&E are helping deliver the clean energy future to their customers through a variety of innovative programs and technologies. This includes expanding access to electric vehicle chargers, advancing the NYS Clean Heat Program through a geothermal energy project in Rochester, and upgrading their transmission system to create pathways for nearly 2 gigawatts of existing and planned renewable energy facilities in New York's Southern Tier.
