Avangrid Energy Plants Power Over 1 Million Homes and Businesses During Coldest Winter Months
Over 30 Avangrid Projects Continued to Supply Heat and Energy During Historic Low Temperatures Impacting Much of the Midwest
“Even in the midst of freezing temperatures, our energy assets are proving to be an affordable and reliable source of electricity for thousands of people across the country. I am grateful for the hundreds of technicians who work at our projects all year to ensure we are providing electricity when it’s needed the most,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “Our projects are maximizing American energy production, delivering reliable power, and enhancing our national security, all while growing the economy.”
Over the past week, much of the middle of the nation dealt with extreme cold temperatures. Avangrid has over 30 energy facilities situated between the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains with a combined installed capacity of over 4.5 Gigawatts (GW) that are delivering power to families and businesses that count on it each day – whether during the dead of winter or height of summer. Combined, these projects are capable of producing enough energy to power the equivalent of about 1 million homes.
In addition to being there when they are needed most, these projects are important daily economic drivers in these communities, contributing lease payments to participating landowners and delivering critical tax revenue to bolster a variety of public services, including schools.
Avangrid has over 75 projects and 9 (GW) of installed capacity across 22 states.
