Avangrid Named to Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies
Recognized for excellence in governance and sustainability metrics and diversity, equity and inclusion practices
First time Barron’s has recognized Avangrid as a sustainable leader
“Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and we’re committed to leading the clean energy transition through verifiable actions,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “As a member of the Iberdrola Group, we believe in holding ourselves accountable to the highest sustainability standards. This honor by Barron’s confirms that we are following the correct path and our actions are making a true impact. I’m proud that our actions today will shape a greener more sustainable future for generations to come.”
To build its list of most sustainable companies, Barron’s partnered with Calvert, a leader in ESG investing. Calvert ranked each of the country’s 1,000 largest publicly traded companies on how each performed in shareholders, employees, customers, community and planet. Specifically, it looked at more than 230 performance indicators from seven rating companies along with other data and Calvert’s internal research. To earn a place on Barron’s list, a company had to be rated above the bottom quarter in each material stakeholder category. If a company performed poorly in any key category that was financially material, it was disqualified.
In addition to this honor from Barron’s, Avangrid was recently named on JUST Capital’s annual JUST 100 for the fourth consecutive year. This year, Avangrid ranked first among utilities and 12 overall on the list of America’s best corporate citizens.
