5g technical
5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology that provides faster internet connections, lower latency, and greater capacity than previous networks. It enables quicker downloads, smoother streaming, and more reliable connections for devices. For investors, 5G represents a significant upgrade in technology infrastructure that can drive growth in related industries such as smartphones, smart cities, and the Internet of Things.
fixed wireless access technical
Fixed wireless access is a way to deliver high-speed internet to homes and businesses using radio signals from nearby towers or rooftop equipment instead of running fiber or copper cables to each location. Think of it as getting broadband over a strong local Wi‑Fi signal broadcast from a neighborhood antenna. Investors watch it because it can speed customer growth and lower installation costs, but returns depend on coverage, equipment costs and access to usable radio frequencies.
wi‑fi 7 technical
Wi‑Fi 7 is the next-generation wireless networking standard that allows devices to send and receive much more data, with lower delay and better handling of many users at once. Think of it as widening highway lanes, adding more lanes and smarter traffic signals so cars (data) move faster and congestion drops; for investors, that translates into potential market growth for device makers, chip suppliers, network equipment vendors and service providers as new products and services adopt the faster, more reliable connectivity.
customer‑premises equipment technical
Equipment installed at a customer’s location that enables a company’s service to work, such as modems, routers, set‑top boxes, business phones or on‑site gateways. Think of it as the appliances a household or office needs to receive internet, phone, TV or data services. Investors care because who pays for, owns, upgrades or supports that equipment affects recurring revenue, service costs, customer retention and capital spending.
cpe technical
Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) are bacteria that have evolved an enzyme blocking carbapenems, a class of last-resort antibiotics, making infections hard to treat. For investors, CPE signals higher demand for better diagnostics, new antibiotics and infection-control products, and potential regulatory and cost pressures on hospitals and drug developers—similar to a leak that forces a building owner to invest in new repairs and safety systems.
rf technical
rf (commonly written r_f) denotes the risk-free rate — the theoretical return on an investment with no chance of loss, often used as a baseline for valuing other assets. Investors use it like a yardstick: returns above this number compensate for extra risk, so it helps price stocks, bonds and option valuations and guides decisions about whether higher-return opportunities justify their added risk. Think of it as the safe deposit box interest rate against which riskier bets are measured.
odms technical
Original design manufacturers (ODMs) are companies that both design and manufacture products that other brands sell under their own names; think of them as the unseen workshop and architect behind a finished product. Investors care because using an ODM can lower a brand’s costs and speed product launches, but it also creates reliance on outside partners for quality, intellectual property and supply stability—factors that can affect profits and risk.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Airgain, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRG), a leading provider of wireless connectivity solutions, today announced that it has secured a multi‑year, multi‑million‑dollar embedded antenna design win for a next‑generation 5G home connectivity platform being developed by a major North American Mobile Network Operator (MNO).

The program includes Airgain’s antenna systems for both a 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) router and a companion in‑home Wi‑Fi extender, supporting broad deployment across the operator’s next‑generation home broadband offering. Pre‑production units are expected to ship this quarter, with mass production anticipated later this year.

This announcement builds on Airgain’s previously disclosed Wi‑Fi 7 design win and further expands the company’s incumbent position within Tier‑1 North American MNOs. Together, these wins reinforce Airgain’s momentum in high‑volume Consumer broadband platforms and highlight the continued strength of its embedded antenna business.

“As mobile network operators accelerate deployments of 5G and hybrid access solutions, antenna performance becomes a critical differentiator for both outdoor and in‑home connectivity,” said Brian Makarowski, Airgain VP of Product and Marketing. “This new design win demonstrates our ability to deliver advanced multi‑band, multi‑technology antenna systems that meet the evolving performance demands of next‑generation home broadband.”

Airgain brings decades of experience delivering antenna systems for high‑performance customer‑premises equipment (CPE). In addition to its RF technology leadership, Airgain partners with global OEMs and ODMs through a comprehensive suite of engineering and professional services — including concept design, industrial design support, RF simulation, system‑level coexistence analysis, mechanical integration, verification and validation testing, and post‑launch performance benchmarking.

These expanded service offerings are increasingly critical as next‑generation platforms integrate complex 5G and Wi‑Fi 7 radio architectures with numerous antennas operating across multiple bands. Airgain’s ability to provide both the hardware and the engineering services required to optimize these systems positions the company as a strategic partner throughout the entire development lifecycle.

“Our embedded antenna business continues to serve as a stable and strategic foundation for Airgain,” said Jacob Suen, President and CEO of Airgain. “Wins like this enable us to fund and accelerate the growth of our next‑generation platforms, including AirgainConnect® Fleet™ and Lighthouse™, where we are expanding into higher‑value mobility, public‑safety, and enterprise connectivity markets. These investments are strengthening Airgain’s position as a diversified connectivity solutions provider and building the engine for our long‑term growth.”
