Amprius (NYSE: AMPX) received a CES 2026 Innovation Award in the Sustainability & Energy Transition category for its 520 Wh/kg silicon-anode battery, a high energy density model aimed at electric aviation customers.
The battery was chosen by an independent panel from thousands of submissions and is described as delivering more than twice the energy of many lithium-ion batteries at the same weight, enabling longer flight times and higher payloads. Amprius will display its silicon anode battery portfolio and a Nokia drone powered by Amprius pouch cells at CES, Booth #4275, Las Vegas Convention Center, West Hall, January 6–9, 2026.
Amprius (NYSE: AMPX) announced a CEO transition: President Tom Stepien will become Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2026.
Founder and current CEO Dr. Kang Sun will retire as CEO at the end of 2025, remain on the Board, and serve as an Executive Advisor. Stepien joined Amprius as President in May 2025 and brings over 35 years of leadership experience across battery and industrial technology companies.

Amprius (NYSE: AMPX) announced that Nokia selected Amprius SiCore® cells to power Nokia Drone Networks' next-generation drone systems on December 2, 2025.
After extensive qualification and testing, Amprius batteries demonstrated the endurance, burst power, and safety needed for takeoff, sustained flight, obstacle avoidance, return-to-home, and safety-critical subsystems. The cells' lightweight, high energy density supports LiDAR, thermal imaging, and 5G modules, enabling Extra Long Range (XLR) and BVLOS missions and expanding automated fleet operational reach.
Amprius (NYSE: AMPX) launched the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance on November 12, 2025 to expand its South Korea footprint and strengthen its international supply chain. The Alliance brings together Korean battery manufacturers, materials suppliers, cell component producers, equipment makers, and investors to collaborate on SiCore battery cell production, electrode innovation, and equipment manufacturing. Amprius (NYSE: AMPX) announced that Empirical Systems Aerospace (ESAero) selected its SiCore® SA08 high-power silicon-anode cell to power next-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for defense, security, logistics, and public safety applications on October 14, 2025.
The SA08 is described as available in volume today, has completed formal qualification, and is now integrated into ESAero products — enabling longer flight times and increased payload capacity. Amprius says the selection supports accelerated development and production timelines and signals growing traction with other UAV partners.
