social engineering attack technical
A social engineering attack is a deliberate effort to manipulate, deceive, or exploit people into revealing confidential information, giving access, or taking actions that compromise security. Attackers use psychological tricks and believable stories (for example via email, phone calls, text messages, in-person approaches, or social media) to bypass technical safeguards by targeting the human element; common techniques include phishing, pretexting, baiting, and tailgating. The key distinction is that these attacks rely on persuading people rather than on technical exploits of software or hardware, and successful attacks often lead to credential theft, unauthorized access, fraud, or data exposure.
