Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

eps financial
"EPS (basic; in euros) | 7.59 | | 12.95"
Earnings per share (EPS) measures how much profit a company makes for each outstanding share of its stock by dividing the company’s profit after expenses by the number of shares. It matters to investors because it shows how much of the company’s “pie” each share represents—higher EPS usually signals greater profitability per share, helps compare companies of different sizes, and influences stock valuations and investor decisions.
View in glossary
euv technical
"low NA EUV and DUV immersion capacity by 30% in 2027"
EUV (extreme ultraviolet) is a high‑precision manufacturing technology that uses very short‑wavelength light to etch extremely tiny patterns onto semiconductor wafers, like using a finer pencil to draw more detailed circuits on a microchip. It matters to investors because it enables denser, faster and more power‑efficient chips, drives large equipment and facility investments, and can influence which chipmakers can cost‑effectively produce the next generation of devices.
duv immersion technical
"low NA EUV and DUV immersion capacity by 30% in 2027"
DUV immersion is a chip-manufacturing technique that uses deep ultraviolet (DUV) light and a liquid layer between the lens and the silicon wafer to print finer circuit patterns. Think of it like using a magnifying glass with water to focus a beam more sharply so lines on a surface can be drawn smaller and more accurately. It matters to investors because it affects semiconductor manufacturers’ ability to produce denser, higher-performing chips and can drive demand for specialized equipment and capital spending.
us gaap financial
"ASML's primary accounting standard for quarterly earnings releases and annual reports is US GAAP"
U.S. GAAP is the set of official accounting rules and standards companies in the United States use to record and report their financial results. Like a common recipe book for financial statements, it makes company reports consistent and easier to compare, so investors can better judge profitability, risk and trends when deciding to buy, hold or sell shares.

CEO statement and outlook
"In the third quarter we reported a record total net sales of €11.7 billion, towards the high end of our guidance, reflecting the strong execution of our ramp-up. Installed Base Management sales1 came in above guidance at €3.3 billion as a result of the continued strong demand for productivity upgrades. This drove the gross margin above guidance at 57.5%.

"Our customers continue to increase their short- and medium-term equipment demand forecasts with us, driven primarily by their views on the size and duration of AI-related investments. In light of their demand visibility, some customers are expressing an interest in placing orders with us for 2029 and even 2030.

"With such strong visibility and an order book momentum that continues to increase quarter on quarter this year, we now expect that our supply as currently planned for both 2027 and 2028 will not fully meet the demand of our customers2. Given this, we are investigating ways to increase capacity for 2028 beyond the 30% increase we previously communicated. In addition, we continue to provide significant wafer capacity to our customers through our productivity upgrade portfolio.

"We expect fourth-quarter 2026 total net sales between €14.2 billion and €15.2 billion, with a gross margin around 57%. We expect R&D costs of around €1.2 billion and SG&A costs of around €0.4 billion. We expect total net sales for 2026 to be between €44 billion and €45 billion, with a gross margin around 56%," said ASML President and Chief Executive Officer Christophe Fouquet.

Update share buyback program and dividend
In the third quarter, we purchased around €4.1 billion worth of shares under the current 2026–2028 share buyback program.

An interim dividend over 2026 of €1.88 per ordinary share will be made payable on November 4, 2026.

Details of the share buyback program as well as transactions pursuant thereto, and details of the dividend are published on ASML's website (www.asml.com/investors).

1 Installed Base Management sales equals our net service and field option sales.
2 This refers to the figures in our Q2 2026 financial results press release, where we stated that we plan to increase 2026 low NA EUV and DUV immersion capacity by 30% in 2027, and are investigating a further 30% increase for both in 2028.
