CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., released its annual Camden Community Investment Report for 2023. This report demonstrates American Water's continued commitment to cultivating and maintaining meaningful and impactful relationships with Camden residents, stakeholders, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

"Since moving to Camden in 2018, we've been purposefully working on expanding our collaboration with community businesses and organizations ensuring we are an impactful corporate citizen helping the residents, families and students in this wonderful city."

In 2023, American Water, New Jersey American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation donated over $1.5 million to various organizations across the city. Some of the highlights in the report include:

  • $950,000 in Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program (NRTC) funding awarded by New Jersey American Water to three Camden-based organizations supporting economic development, housing and homeownership programs, and social services.
  • American Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with New Jersey American Water, awarded $250,000 through the Foundation’s Water and Environment Grant Program to Upstream Alliance, supporting a Solar-Electric Education Vessel to conduct on-water learning for Camden students.
  • American Water Charitable Foundation provided a combined total of $25,000 in One Water Street grants to five of American Water’s long-standing Camden community partners.
  • New Jersey American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation partnered with the Camden City School District to install reusable bottle filling stations in school cafeterias.
