Funds Allocated for the Restoration of the Playground at Palisades Park Affected by the Fires

LOS ANGELES, April 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The LA Parks Foundation, which works to support the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, is pleased to announce a $1 million donation from FireAid to restore the Pacific Palisades Playground, damaged in the Southern California wildfires in January. The LA Parks foundation, which will oversee the entire project, has also secured a $300,000 in-kind contribution from GameTime—the company stepping up to supply all the equipment for the project—along with an additional donation from Banc of California's Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund, bringing support for the playground to more than $1.3 million. These funds, including the $1 million from the FireAid Benefit Concert, will allow for an expedited restoration and modernization of the playground in time for the July 4th holiday this year.

The Los Angeles Parks Foundation's mission is to enhance, expand, and promote public recreation at the more than 500 parks in the city of Los Angeles. This funding has been specifically designated and authorized to address urgent requirements at Palisades Park and Recreation Center, which has served the community for more than 35 years and is located at 851 Alma Real Drive in the Pacific Palisades.

"We express our deep gratitude to FireAid, GameTime, and Banc of California for their generous donations," said Tony Budrovich, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Parks Foundation. "This support comes out of a successful private and public partnership aimed at revitalizing the playground within the Palisades community. The Palisades Park plays a vital role in the community, providing families with opportunities for recreation and fostering a sense of togetherness, which is more important than ever."

Catering to children from 5 to 14 years-old, there will be two adjacent playgrounds featuring a new rubber surface. These modernized play areas will be fully accessible and equipped with integrated shade to ensure a secure environment for play. Additionally, the design will incorporate a play fire truck as an homage to first responders for their dedicated efforts in combating the Palisades fire.
