Key Terms

gen-2 constellation technical
A gen-2 constellation is a second-generation network of satellites designed to replace or supplement an earlier set, using updated hardware, software, or orbital layout to provide better performance, capacity, or coverage. Investors care because it can boost revenue potential and efficiency—like swapping an old delivery truck fleet for newer models—while also requiring significant upfront investment and carrying execution and regulatory risks.
gen-3 satellites technical
Gen-3 satellites are third-generation spacecraft that build on earlier models with improved sensors, communications, processing power, or reliability; think of them as the latest smartphone model in a satellite fleet. For investors, they matter because newer generations can increase service capacity, lower operating costs, extend mission life and open new revenue streams, so a company that upgrades to gen-3 craft may gain a competitive edge or reduce future capital and maintenance risk.
ai-enabled analytics technical
AI-enabled analytics are computer tools that use artificial intelligence to sift through large amounts of data, spot patterns, make predictions and present insights in a clear way—like a smart assistant that quickly sorts and highlights the most important items in a crowded inbox. For investors this matters because it can speed decision-making, reveal risks or opportunities that humans might miss, and potentially improve forecasting, efficiency and competitive advantage.
on-demand financial
On-demand describes goods, services or content delivered immediately when a customer requests them instead of on a fixed schedule. For investors, it signals a business model where revenue and costs fluctuate with real-time customer use—like hailing a ride instead of owning a car—so the company can scale quickly and cut inventory or scheduling waste, but may face volatile cash flow and ongoing technology or staffing expenses.
assured subscription-based services financial
Assured subscription-based services are business offerings sold on a recurring-payment model where customer access or delivery is backed by contracts, guarantees or strong renewal rates that make future revenue more predictable. Think of it like a magazine subscription that’s locked in year after year rather than a one-time purchase; for investors, that predictability reduces revenue swings, helps value the company more reliably, and lowers the risk of sudden cash-flow drops.
vertically integrated satellite manufacturing technical
A company model where the same organization designs, makes key parts, assembles, tests, and supports satellites instead of buying those services from others. For investors, it matters because owning the whole process can lower costs, speed delivery, protect against supply delays and let the company capture more profit—think of a bakery that grows its own wheat, mills its flour and bakes its bread, rather than buying each ingredient from separate suppliers.
