Boxlight Expands STEM Education Partnership with Jefferson Parish Schools
Boxlight broadens its Jefferson Parish Schools collaboration with over 200 3D printers plus aligned STEM curriculum and extensive teacher training support.
The initiative began with the district exploring approximately 50 3D printers for its middle and high school science programs. Through discovery conversations, the project expanded as district leaders identified a need for more than hardware; they were looking for curriculum, professional development, implementation planning, ongoing support, and a true technology partner.
The Robo E4 printer was selected not only because it is a high-speed machine designed for the rigors of the classroom, but also because it comes bundled with MimioSTEM’s award-winning curriculum solution: MyStemKits. This curriculum platform provides standards-driven lessons, activities, design challenges, and ready-to-print 3D models designed to help educators integrate hands-on STEM learning into instruction and make sure that their new 3D printers can be used to their fullest potential.
“We are grateful to Boxlight for investing in our teachers and students in a way that goes beyond simply providing new technology. These resources will give our students more opportunities to create, explore, solve problems and bring what they are learning to life.” Dr. James
Aligning Technology with Instruction
Boxlight worked with district leaders to align MyStemKits resources with Jefferson Parish’s science scope and sequence, helping ensure teachers have relevant instructional materials from the start of implementation.
“In Jefferson Parish Schools, our focus is always on making sure new resources connect directly to what students are learning every day. By aligning the technology with our science curriculum, teachers can introduce hands-on experiences that reinforce key concepts and give students new ways to demonstrate what they know.” - Laura Roussel, Chief Academic Officer,
During that process, Boxlight identified a need for additional environmental science content and developed new lessons to help address those instructional gaps, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting district-specific instructional needs.
“Jefferson Parish Schools had a clear vision for expanding hands-on STEM learning, and we were proud to support the district as the project evolved from an initial technology discussion into a comprehensive instructional initiative,” said Kurt Roberts, Client Director, Bluum. “Working alongside Boxlight, we were able to help connect the district with the technology, curriculum, professional learning, and support needed to make the implementation successful.”
Professional Development and Ongoing Support
Boxlight developed an implementation roadmap that includes teacher training, curriculum integration, ongoing coaching, and continued support throughout the school year.
The rollout will include a customized week-long professional development program in September, with multiple Boxlight team members traveling to
In addition to the kick-off week of professional learning, Boxlight will also provide various virtual learning follow-up sessions for interested educators and has provided a 3D printer certification course so that both the teachers and their students can become 3D printer certified.
The initiative reflects Boxlight’s approach to education technology: providing the technology, curriculum, training, and ongoing support needed to turn classroom tools into meaningful instructional experiences.
“This initiative is a strong example of how understanding a district’s goals can transform a technology purchase into a broader instructional partnership,” said Jillian Dale, STEM Sales Manager, Boxlight. “Our goal is to make it easier for educators to confidently use technology to support curriculum and create meaningful learning experiences.”
