Insights

CPI Aero secures $2.5M in new orders, bringing T-38 aircraft modification contract funding to $50.8M of $65.7M total potential value.

The $2.5 million in new purchase orders CPI Aerostructures received represents incremental business under an existing U.S. Air Force contract with a ceiling value of $65.7 million. These orders bring the total funded value to $50.8 million - approximately 77% of the contract's maximum potential value. This demonstrates the Air Force's continued commitment to the T-38 Pacer Classic III and TRIM programs.

What's particularly noteworthy is the extension of the performance period into 2028, indicating long-term revenue visibility for this small-cap aerospace manufacturer. The T-38 Talon fleet, despite being over 60 years old, remains a critical training platform for the U.S. Air Force with nearly 500 aircraft still in service. The modification kits CPI provides are extending these aircraft's operational life beyond 2030, which speaks to the program's strategic importance.

The contract's stability is significant for CPI Aero's financial health, providing predictable revenue streams in the defense sector. The company's positioning as a small business contractor to the Air Force in the kitting and supply chain management segment demonstrates its competitive advantage in a specialized niche. Given that military aircraft sustainment programs typically involve multi-decade commitments, this contract represents stable, long-term business with minimal competitive disruption risk once established as the incumbent supplier.

Increases Funded Orders under Previously Awarded Multi-year Contract to $50.8 million

EDGEWOOD, N.Y., Aug. 04, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CPI Aerostructures, Inc. (“CPI Aero®” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: CVU) announced that it has received multiple purchase orders totaling $2.5 million under a previously announced contract from the U.S. Air Force valued at up to $65.7 million to provide structural modification kits, program management, logistics, and other sustainment services in support of Phase 3 of the T-38C Pacer Classic III Fuselage Structural Modification Kit Integration program (“PCIII”) and the Talon Repair Inspection and Maintenance (“TRIM”) program. The new purchase orders bring the total funded value of the contract to $50.8 million and support additional kit deliveries within the currently funded period of performance into 2028.

The Northrop T-38 Talon is a two-seat, twinjet supersonic aircraft and has been the principal supersonic jet trainer used by the U.S. Air Force for more than 60 years. Over 1,200 were produced and just under 500 are still being flown by the U.S. Air Force and NASA. The PCIII and TRIM programs give the aircraft a structural makeover that extends the service life of the aircraft beyond 2030.

“Kitting and Supply Chain Management is a key segment of CPI’s portfolio and we are proud to be a small business supplying these critical aircraft modification kits to the U.S. Air Force,” commented Dorith Hakim, president and chief executive officer of CPI Aero.
