PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) (Nasdaq: DIOD) announces its family of automotive-compliant* field-plated Super Barrier Rectifier (SBRFP) products that include the 2A SBRFP2M60P1Q and SBRFP2M60SAFQ, 3A SBRFP3M60SAFQ, and 8A SBRFP8A60P5Q. Serving as drop-in replacements for comparable Schottky and PN junction diodes, the SBRFP devices feature industry-leading ultra-low forward voltage (VF) and low reverse leakage current (IR). This combination enables the design of more efficient and reliable DC-DC converters, reverse-polarity protection (RPP), battery charging systems, automotive LED lighting, and transmission control systems.

Unlike conventional Schottky rectifiers, Diodes’ proprietary and patented SBRFP technology employs a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) manufacturing process that overcomes the limitations of Schottky and PN junction diodes. The SBRFP8A60P5Q delivers the industry’s lowest maximum forward voltage (VF) of 0.55V at 8A, reducing conduction losses and enabling cooler operation in high-current applications. Meanwhile, the SBRFP2M60P1Q and SBRFP3M60SAFQ provide industry-leading IR leakage performance, with maximum currents of 12µA and 7µA, at 25°C and 125°C. These characteristics help improve efficiency while minimizing the risk of thermal runaway under high-temperature operating conditions.

The new devices also offer significantly greater avalanche capability than traditional Schottky rectifiers. Depending on the device, avalanche energy ratings reach up to 145mJ, enabling the rectifiers to withstand surge events, load dumps, and transient conditions commonly encountered in automotive electrical systems. This avalanche capability is five to ten times greater than conventional Schottky rectifiers, improving overall system robustness and reliability.

The SBRFP family is available in various packages, including PowerDI®123 (SBRFP2M60P1Q), PowerDI5 (SBRFP8A60P5Q), and SMAF (SBRFP2M60SAFQ and SBRFP3M60SAFQ). The devices maintain stable operation across a junction temperature range of -55°C to +175°C, making them suitable for harsh automotive environments.

The SBRFP family is available in 1,000-piece quantities at:
SBRFP2M60P1Q $0.08
SBRFP8A60P5Q $0.26
SBRFP2M60SAFQ $0.11
SBRFP3M60SAFQ $0.13

Key Terms

forward voltage (vf) technical
Forward voltage (Vf) is the voltage drop across a semiconductor device, such as a diode or LED, when it is conducting current in its normal forward direction. Investors care because Vf affects power efficiency, heat generation and circuit compatibility of electronic products—similar to knowing how much fuel an engine uses to produce a given speed—so changes in Vf can influence product performance, manufacturing costs and market competitiveness.
reverse leakage current (ir) technical
Reverse leakage current (Ir) is the small electric current that flows through a diode or semiconductor device when it is reverse-biased, meaning the device is subjected to a voltage that should block current. Investors care because Ir affects a component’s efficiency, heat generation, reliability, and power consumption—qualities that influence product performance, manufacturing yields, and cost structures in companies that make or use semiconductors. Think of it as the tiny drip that reveals how well a valve actually seals.
reverse-polarity protection (rpp) technical
Reverse-polarity protection is a built-in electrical feature that prevents damage when a power source is connected with the positive and negative terminals swapped. Like a one-way valve for electricity, it blocks or redirects current so circuits, batteries, or devices don't burn out, trip fuses, or cause sparks; for investors this matters because it affects product reliability, safety, warranty and liability exposure, and compliance with industry standards.
