CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Cue the confetti… and the doughnuts! Krispy Kreme® and its fans will celebrate the brand’s 89^th birthday on Friday, July 17 by sharing 89-cent hot, fresh and iconic Original Glazed® dozens.

On Friday only, fans can score an Original Glazed dozen for just 89 cents with the purchase of any dozen at regular price at participating U.S. shops. Limit two dozen in-shop and drive-thru, one dozen for online pickup or delivery.

“Every Krispy Kreme birthday is really a celebration of our fans,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme Chief Brand and Product Officer. “Offering Original Glazed® dozens for just 89 cents is our way of saying thank you to the guests who make Krispy Kreme part of their celebrations, traditions and everyday sweet moments.”

Krispy Kreme's story began in 1937 when founder Vernon Rudolph opened the first Krispy Kreme shop in Winston-Salem, N.C., and began making fresh doughnuts. Drawn by the irresistible aroma drifting onto the street, curious passersby began asking if they could buy hot doughnuts directly from the bakery. Rudolph responded by cutting a hole in an exterior wall and serving fresh Original Glazed® doughnuts right from the sidewalk.
