asset coverage ratio financial
Asset coverage ratio measures how much of a company’s debt or preferred claims could be paid off using its tangible assets if the business had to be sold. It’s a safety check for investors and creditors, showing the size of the asset “cushion” available to meet obligations; a higher ratio means more protection, like having enough savings and sellable belongings to cover outstanding bills, while a low ratio signals greater risk of loss.
investment company act of 1940 regulatory
A U.S. federal law that sets the rulebook for pooled investment vehicles such as mutual funds, exchange-traded funds and similar money managers, requiring them to register with regulators, disclose holdings and fees, limit conflicts of interest, and follow governance standards. It matters to investors because these protections and transparency rules act like a referee and scoreboard, helping people compare funds, trust that managers follow fair practices, and spot hidden costs or risks.
closed-end management investment company financial
A closed-end management investment company is a pooled investment fund that raises a fixed amount of capital by issuing a set number of shares and then lists those shares for trading on an exchange; investors buy and sell shares on the market rather than redeeming them back to the fund. Think of it like a store with a fixed number of bottles on the shelf: the market price can be higher or lower than the underlying value of the assets, which matters to investors because it affects returns, liquidity and income characteristics independent of the fund’s actual holdings.
net asset value financial
Net asset value is the total value of an investment fund's assets minus any liabilities, divided by the number of shares or units outstanding. It represents the per-share worth of the fund, similar to how the value of a house is determined by its total worth after debts are subtracted. Investors use it to gauge the true value of their holdings and to compare different investment options.
mandatory redeemable preferred shares financial
A share that pays a fixed return and must be bought back by the issuer at a set time or upon a predetermined event, combining features of stock and a loan. It matters to investors because holders get priority on payments and a promised repayment date—like lending money with a scheduled payback—so these shares limit upside from company growth but reduce risk compared with ordinary shares and can affect a company’s future cash needs.
senior notes financial
Senior notes are a type of loan that a company borrows from investors, promising to pay it back with interest. They are called "senior" because in case the company faces financial trouble, these lenders are paid back before others. This makes senior notes safer for investors compared to other types of loans or bonds.
form n-port regulatory
Form N-PORT is a standardized regulatory filing that investment funds use to report detailed, month-by-month information about what they own and certain risk and liquidity measures to securities regulators. For investors, it acts like an itemized monthly bank statement for a fund, offering transparency about holdings and exposures so people can judge a fund’s strategy, concentration and potential risks over time.
unaudited financial
"Unaudited" describes financial statements or reports that have not been examined or verified by an independent accountant or auditor. Because they haven't undergone this review, they may not be as reliable or accurate as audited reports, making them less certain for investors to rely on when assessing a company's financial health. Think of it as a preliminary estimate that could change once checked by an expert.
