Key Terms

letter of intent, fcm, derivatives clearing organization, designated contract market
4 terms
letter of intent financial
"signed a letter of intent under which Gemini Titan"
A letter of intent is a document that shows an agreement in principle between parties to work towards a future deal or transaction. It outlines their intentions and key terms, acting like a roadmap before a formal contract is signed. For investors, it signals serious interest and helps clarify expectations early in the process.
fcm regulatory
"distributed through Apex's Futures Commission Merchant (FCM)"
An FCM (Futures Commission Merchant) is a regulated firm that executes, clears and holds margin for futures and options trades on behalf of clients. Think of it as a broker plus bank for derivatives: it processes orders, safeguards collateral and connects traders to exchanges and clearinghouses. Investors should note an FCM’s financial stability, fees and operational reliability because those factors affect trade costs, access and counterparty risk.
derivatives clearing organization regulatory
"obtained a CFTC Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license"
A derivatives clearing organization is a regulated financial middleman that stands between buyers and sellers of futures, options, and other contracts to make sure trades are completed even if one side cannot pay. It collects collateral, nets offsetting positions, and runs backup plans for defaults, like an insurance pool for trades. Investors care because it reduces the chance of sudden losses from a counterparty failure, supports market liquidity, and makes derivatives trading safer and more reliable.
designated contract market regulatory
"secured a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the CFTC"
A designated contract market is a regulated, public exchange where standardized futures and options contracts are bought and sold, similar to a supervised marketplace with clear rules and a referee to enforce them. It matters to investors because trading on such an exchange provides transparent prices, predictable contract terms and built‑in safeguards that reduce counterparty risk, making it easier to assess value and execute trades reliably.

Gemini is now positioned to be the exclusive CFTC-regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex's FCM, giving Apex's brokerage clients regulated access to crypto prediction markets without building their own exchange connectivity

NEW YORK, Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Gemini Space Station, Inc. (“Gemini”) and Apex Fintech Solutions Inc. (“Apex”) announced they have signed a letter of intent under which Gemini Titan, a subsidiary of Gemini, would become the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex's Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) to Apex's brokerage customers.

Under the alliance, brokerages that offer crypto event contracts through Apex's FCM will use Gemini for execution and clearing – making Gemini the go-to regulated venue for crypto-based predictions markets accessed through Apex. Beyond crypto, Gemini affords Apex the flexibility to collaborate on additional contract categories, including sports, economics, and financial markets, on a non-exclusive basis.

This collaboration builds on Gemini's recent product and regulatory milestones. In April, its subsidiary, Gemini Olympus, obtained a CFTC Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) license, bringing derivatives clearing and settlement for Gemini Titan in-house. In December 2025, Gemini Titan secured a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the CFTC, enabling Gemini to launch predictions trading.

"Leveraging more than a decade of experience building and operating a regulated platform for crypto, a new and emergent asset class, we deliberately chose to build our predictions platform in-house,” said Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini. “We believe that predictions are the future of markets, and this strategy allows us to expand our offering and open access to valued partners like Apex as demand for event contracts grows.”

In July, Gemini announced the launch of stock trading with 0% commissions for certain customers in the United States with Apex Clearing Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apex acting as the custodian and clearing broker.

"At Apex, we've always believed in meeting the market where it's going," said Travis McGhee, Global Head of Digital Markets at Apex Fintech Solutions. "This partnership with Gemini is about building the bridge between traditional finance and what's next. Our brokerage clients get regulated access to crypto event contracts without having to build the plumbing themselves. That's the Apex model."

Gemini and Apex look forward to finalizing the details of this strategic collaboration in the coming weeks.
