FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai's IONIQ 5 N has been named the Official Winter EV of New England and Best In-Class Performance Car and the Tucson has also been awarded Best In-Class SUV by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) in their Winter Test evaluation. NEMPA evaluates over 100 vehicles over the course of the winter months each year. Vehicles were evaluated at the drive program by NEMPA members who determined the awarded vehicles by assessing their combination of winter-specific features and options plus the dynamic qualities that make for safe, enjoyable, and competent all-weather driving. The Winter awards include three top honors – Official Winter Vehicle, Luxury EV and Sports Car as well as nine Best In-Class categories.

"Hyundai tests its vehicles in a variety of extreme weather conditions for durability and quality performance," said Ricky Lao, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America. "Having two vehicles, with differing propulsion systems, awarded in the New England Winter testing evaluations, is a true testament to our commitment in providing reliable modes of transportation for both ICE and EV systems."

"Hyundai has been on a hot streak, so we expected the IONIQ 5 N to be good. That it would knock out the supercars and high-performance luxury SUVs that NEMPA regularly tests, and then glide into town in total silence and comfort? We were stunned. That's why the IONIQ 5 N is our Best Performance Car for 2025," said Cliff Atiyeh, president of the New England Motor Press Association.

Atiyeh also commented, "In a sea of compact SUVs, the Tucson's bright grille lights and sharp-toothed taillights cut through the traffic. From behind the updated steering wheel, the roomy interior brings updated infotainment, retains enough physical controls, and offers a good driving experience especially on the rugged new XRT. Choices for hybrid and plug-in hybrid trims make the Tucson a complete package and a NEMPA winner."
