The zone lies outside the existing 1.1-billion-tonne inferred mineral resource, an estimate with limited geological confidence. Block D drilling identified 20 meters of continuous mineralization.
Preliminary terbium extraction ranged from 64% to 83% in material associated with the new zone. IMC is continuing exploration and metallurgical testing to assess mineral recovery. The economic significance of the shallow mineralization depends on continuity, mineral composition, recovery performance and future mining requirements.

Block H is outside the existing 1.1 billion tonne resource; its size and continuity remain to be defined. At Block D, a hole intersected 20 meters of mineralization and ended in mineralization at the auger rig's depth limit. IMC plans follow-up drilling at both blocks and expects an updated resource estimate later in 2026. Processing studies will assess whether shallow zones could support earlier, lower-capital development.
IMC Rare Earths (IMC) reported new metallurgical testwork from the University of Brighton indicating 73% in-situ rare earth recovery (excluding cerium) from its Itarantim Project in Brazil using acidified magnesium sulphate.
The tests recovered 71.4% terbium and 70.5% dysprosium, while ammonium sulphate achieved 70% total rare earth recovery under comparable conditions. Column leaching generated solutions containing 4,000–8,000 mg/L total rare earths. Downstream processing recovered up to 86.6% of rare earths from solution into a mixed rare earth carbonate, then a mixed rare earth oxide containing about 41% total rare earths. Uranium and thorium were below detection limits in leach solutions. IMC views the results as supporting further evaluation of in-situ recovery, which could reduce excavation, tailings and capital needs for the 1.1 billion tonne Inferred Mineral Resource at Itarantim, subject to field testing, engineering and permitting.

Itarantim hosts approximately 1.1 billion tonnes of Inferred Mineral Resource containing neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, including an inferred domain of 105.8 million tonnes averaging 8 ppm terbium. IMC believes the combination of grade and leachability places Itarantim among the highest-grade terbium-bearing ionic clay projects under evaluation globally, and has initiated further quantitative metallurgical work to refine recovery performance and product characteristics.
