Initiative Builds on First Commercial Yarn Shipment to Create New Constructions and Blends for the Next Generation of Fabrics and Apparel

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 26, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (OTCQB: KBLB) (“the Company”, “Kraig Labs”, or “Kraig’s”), a world leader in spider silk technology*, today announced the launch of a new program to develop innovative performance yarns built on its recombinant spider silk. The Company also announced that it has shipped samples of its spider silk to an innovative firm with a history of collaborating with tier-1 aerospace manufacturers to develop new materials. The yarn development program builds directly on the Company’s recent sale and shipment of a custom yarn to a performance apparel customer.

The program has a clear purpose; Kraig Labs will develop new yarn constructions and new material blends. These yarns will be designed from the ground up to enable new fabrics, new apparel, and new materials. Each one will leverage the performance and the rarity of spider silk.

Kraig Labs’ first custom yarn proved the process and opened the door to a broader effort and opportunities to bring innovation in materials performance from the lab to the market.

“Our first custom yarn showed that it is now possible to produce and deliver spider silk to industry,” said Kim Thompson, Founder and CEO of Kraig Labs. “This program takes that further. We are launching the development of new yarns, new constructions, and new blends. Each one is built around the performance and capabilities of spider silk.”

The Company expects the program to serve as the groundwork for multiple commercialization paths, potentially including new collaborations with brands, mills, and manufacturers, to Kraig Labs’ own innovation in apparel.

This initial shipment was sent out at the request of this innovator in textiles. The recipient is known for developing some of the world’s most advanced yarn spinning equipment. Their expertise and leadership in this space has earned their place in collaboration alongside tier-1 aerospace manufacturers to develop next gen fibers and hybrid structures. Their work is centered where strength, weight, and performance decide outcomes. This shipment puts recombinant spider silk in front of a team with deep experience in demanding applications.

“Spider silk is a material that will earn its place through performance,” Thompson said. “Sending samples of our silk to a firm with this background puts it in front of people who know exactly how to leverage materials with exceptional performance. Every great fabric starts with a yarn. This program is where we build that foundation.”

The Company’s leadership in biomaterials was recently spotlighted on the cover of the March 2026 issue of National Geographic, highlighting the growing importance and predominance of our work in scaling spider silk production.
