MetaVia to Present Phase 1 Clinical Trial Data for DA-1726 in Oral Presentation at the Precision Liver Symposium 2026

MetaVia (Nasdaq: MTVA) will present DA-1726 Phase 1 clinical trial data at the Precision Liver Symposium on November 4, 2026.

Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

MetaVia (Nasdaq: MTVA) will present DA-1726 Phase 1 clinical trial data at the Precision Liver Symposium on November 4, 2026.

The accepted oral presentation concerns a randomized, placebo-controlled trial. Its title describes reductions in liver fat measured by MRI-PDFF, an imaging-based measure, and weight loss with relative preservation of lean mass. DA-1726 is a drug candidate targeting both GLP-1 and glucagon receptors.

Chief Medical Officer Sarah Browne, M.D., will deliver the presentation at 1:35 pm MT at the Hilton Denver City Center in Denver, Colorado. A copy of the poster will be available in the Posters section of MetaVia’s website after the presentation. The announcement provides no numerical trial results for the presentation.

4 terms
mri-pdff medical
"Significant Reduction in MRI-PDFF and Weight Loss"
MRI-PDFF (Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Proton Density Fat Fraction) is a medical imaging technique that measures the amount of fat within the liver or other tissues. For investors, it provides a precise way to assess health risks related to fat buildup, which can impact healthcare costs and the valuation of related companies. Its accuracy helps in monitoring treatment progress and predicting potential medical expenses, making it relevant for healthcare decision-making and investment considerations.
multiple ascending dose medical
"Phase 1 multiple ascending dose (MAD) trial in obesity"
A multiple ascending dose is a method used in testing new medicines where small groups of people receive gradually larger amounts of the drug over time. This approach helps researchers find the safest and most effective dose without causing too many side effects. For investors, it signals ongoing steps in drug development that can impact a company's potential success or approval prospects.
oxyntomodulin medical
"a novel oxyntomodulin (OXM) analogue"
Oxyntomodulin is a naturally occurring gut hormone released after eating that reduces appetite and influences blood sugar and energy use, acting like a thermostat that helps dial down hunger and adjust the body's fuel handling. It matters to investors because drugs that mimic or boost this hormone are a major class of experimental treatments for obesity and diabetes; trial results, safety findings, and regulatory decisions around oxyntomodulin-based therapies can strongly affect company value and market opportunity.
glucagon receptor medical
"glucagon receptors (GCGR)"
A glucagon receptor is a protein on the surface of certain cells that acts like a lock for the hormone glucagon, which is a key that signals the body to release stored sugar into the bloodstream. Investors care because drugs that block or activate this receptor can change blood sugar, weight and metabolism—so success or failure in developing such drugs can materially affect a biotech company’s value and market prospects.

About DA-1726
DA-1726 is a novel oxyntomodulin (OXM) analogue functioning as a GLP1R/GCGR dual agonist for the treatment of metabolic disease that is to be administered once weekly subcutaneously. DA-1726 acts as a dual agonist of GLP-1 receptors (GLP1R) and glucagon receptors (GCGR), leading to weight loss through reduced appetite and increased energy expenditure. DA-1726 has a well understood mechanism and, in pre-clinical mice models, resulted in improved weight loss compared to semaglutide (Wegovy®), a leading GLP-1 receptor agonist. Additionally, in pre-clinical mouse models, DA-1726 elicited similar weight reduction, while consuming more food, compared to tirzepatide (Zepbound®) and survodutide (a drug with the same MOA), while also preserving lean body mass and demonstrating improved lipid-lowering effects compared to survodutide. In the Phase 1 multiple ascending dose (MAD) trial in obesity, the 32 mg dose of DA-1726 demonstrated best-in-class potential for weight loss, glucose control, and waist circumference reduction.

About MetaVia
MetaVia Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on transforming cardiometabolic diseases. The company is currently developing DA-1726 for treatment across multiple cardiometabolic indications and is developing vanoglipel (DA-1241) for the treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH). DA-1726 is a novel oxyntomodulin (OXM) analogue that functions as a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP1R) and glucagon receptor (GCGR) dual agonist. In a Phase 1 multiple ascending dose (MAD) trial, DA-1726 demonstrated encouraging liver-related findings, including improvements in noninvasive measures of hepatic steatosis and liver stiffness. Vanoglipel is a potential first-in-class drug candidate targeting G-protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119). In preclinical studies, vanoglipel demonstrated a positive metabolic effect on glucose and lipid control, and also proved differentiated hepatic benefits reducing hepatic steatosis, hepatic inflammation, and liver fibrosis regardless independent of metabolic improvement. In a Phase 2a clinical study, vanoglipel demonstrated direct hepatic action in addition to its glucose lowering effects.
