Nortec Mineral Corp. (TSXV: NVT) has announced the commencement of exploration drilling at its Sturgeon Lake Copper-Zinc-Lead Project in Ontario, Canada in February 2025. The project is strategically located adjacent to Glencore's Mattabi Mine site.
The drilling targets were identified through a combination of ground Electromagnetic (EM) survey conducted in Q4 2024 and a 2023 Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) survey. Target Area 1 conductors were further validated by soil surveys showing up to 125 ppm copper and 131 ppm gold. Historic drilling in the area has revealed promising results, including 0.3% Cu and 0.9% Zn over 1.5m, and 5.8 g/t gold and 0.6% lead over 0.91 meter.
The company plans a 500-meter maiden drill program scheduled to begin in February 2025, targeting areas with demonstrated potential for copper and gold-rich VMS mineralization.
