Key Terms

carbon black technical
A manufactured fine black powder made by the controlled partial combustion or thermal decomposition of heavy petroleum products; it consists of nearly pure elemental carbon arranged as microscopic spheroidal particles that cluster into aggregates. Carbon black is sold in different grades defined by particle size, structure and surface area, and is used primarily as a reinforcing filler in rubber (especially tires) and as a pigment or conductivity additive in plastics, inks, coatings and batteries. It is a distinct industrial material from activated carbon (which is porous and adsorptive) and from atmospheric “black carbon” or soot, and is subject to workplace and environmental handling rules because it is a respirable particulate.
iscc plus technical
ISCC PLUS is a third‑party sustainability certification that verifies raw materials and supply chains meet environmental and social criteria for renewable, recycled, or bio-based products. For investors, it signals that a product or supplier has traceable practices and reduced sustainability risks—like a food label for green claims—potentially affecting market access, regulatory compliance, and reputational value.
