The partnership leverages complementary capabilities: Rift Dynamics provides the NDAA-compliant drone design, Kitron offers proven manufacturing expertise with U.S. facilities, and American Robotics contributes exclusive U.S. distribution rights. The manufacturing infrastructure reportedly enables rapid scaling to 20,000 units monthly within six months of order placement.
From a military technology perspective, this initiative aligns with the Pentagon's current procurement priorities for attritable systems that balance performance, cost, and availability. The Wåsp's modular architecture and NATO interoperability enhance its market potential.
The strategic significance extends beyond this initial order. Ondas now has three complementary defense offerings: the Optimus autonomous system, Iron Drone Raider counter-UAS solution, and now the Wåsp platform. This creates a layered defense portfolio that strengthens Ondas' competitive positioning in military robotics markets.
With initial deliveries expected in Q4 2025 and active pursuit of Department of War program bids, this represents a meaningful expansion of Ondas' addressable market in the defense sector, where procurement cycles are typically lengthy but can yield substantial, multi-year contracts.
