Investments in Newark and North Bergen strengthen access to one of North America’s busiest freight markets
New locations position Ryder closer to major ports, transportation corridors, and customers serving the Northeast
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R) is expanding customer access to used commercial vehicles with two investments in northern New Jersey, one of the nation’s most important freight markets.
Ryder expands its Northeast network with new used truck centers in Newark and North Bergen, NJ, strengthening customer access across one of North America’s busiest freight markets.
Ryder has relocated its Kearny used vehicle center to a larger, more strategically positioned facility in Newark, N.J., and has opened a new used truck sales center in North Bergen, N.J. The investments enhance Ryder’s ability to serve customers across the Northeast while extending its reach near major ports, distribution hubs, and transportation corridors.
Located at 474 Wilson Avenue in Newark, the relocated facility places Ryder at the heart of the region’s freight network, with direct access to the Port of Newark, Interstate 95, and Newark Liberty International Airport. The site also brings multiple Ryder fleet management solutions together in a single location, expected to create operational efficiencies and support the company’s integrated port-to-door transportation strategy.
Ryder’s new North Bergen facility, located at 6214 Tonnelle Avenue, marks the company’s first used vehicle sales location south of the George Washington Bridge. Positioned along the heavily trafficked U.S. Route 1-9 corridor across from New York City, the site expands Ryder’s visibility in a densely populated logistics market and provides customers with another convenient destination for purchasing used commercial vehicles.
“Northern New Jersey is one of the most important transportation markets in North America, making it a natural fit to expand our used vehicle sales network,” says Eric Upchurch, vice president of vehicle sales at Ryder. “These locations bring us closer to the customers, carriers, and logistics operations that drive the regional economy and make it easier for customers to access Ryder’s high-quality used vehicle inventory and fleet solutions.”
Strengthening Access Across the Northeast
The New York-New Jersey region plays a critical role in the U.S. supply chain, serving as a gateway for international trade and a hub for warehousing, distribution, and transportation activity. By establishing facilities in Newark and North Bergen, Ryder is strengthening its position in a market that connects major East Coast ports, population centers, and some of the nation’s busiest freight corridors, while giving customers greater access to Ryder’s used truck inventory closer to where they do business.
The Newark and North Bergen locations also support the Ryder Vehicle Assurance Program, including the company’s free 60-day limited warranty available through year-end on eligible DOT Verified used vehicles.
