Key Terms

ransomware technical
Ransomware is malicious software that locks or encrypts a company’s computer files and systems, then demands payment for their release — like a thief changing the locks on a business and asking for a ransom. It matters to investors because attacks can halt operations, trigger large cleanup costs, damage customer trust, lead to regulatory fines or legal claims, and reduce future revenue, all of which can hurt a company’s financial value.
immutable technical
Immutable describes data, records, or rules that cannot be altered after they are created, like a notarized document that is permanently sealed. For investors, immutability matters because it provides a trustworthy, unchangeable history for contracts, regulatory filings, audit trails, or transaction records, reducing the risk of fraud, disputes, or surprise corrections and making it easier to verify past actions.
threat detection technical
Threat detection is the process of spotting signs that something harmful or unwanted is happening or about to happen to an organization—such as a cyberattack, fraud, data leak, product safety issue, or regulatory noncompliance. Think of it as a building’s smoke detector: it alerts managers early so they can stop damage, preserve operations and reputation, and avoid costly fines or loss of investor trust.
malware technical
Malware is malicious software that infiltrates computers, networks or devices to damage systems, steal or corrupt data, or disrupt normal operations — like a digital burglar or pest that sneaks in and tampers with a business’s tools and records. For investors, malware matters because attacks can cause service outages, lost sales, costly cleanup and legal penalties, erode customer trust, and create sudden, material risks to revenue and stock price.
stock options financial
Stock options are agreements that give a person the right to buy or sell a company's stock at a specific price within a certain time frame. They are often used as a reward or incentive, similar to a coupon that can be used later if the stock price rises, allowing the holder to make a profit.
restricted stock units financial
Restricted stock units are a type of company reward where employees are promised shares of stock, but they only fully own these shares after meeting certain conditions, like staying with the company for a set time. They matter because they can become valuable assets and are often used to motivate employees to help the company succeed.
10b5-1 sales regulatory
10b5-1 sales are pre-arranged stock-trading plans that let company insiders automatically buy or sell shares according to a fixed schedule or formula, even if they later learn confidential information. Think of it as setting up an automatic thermostat for trades: it creates a clear, documented path that can protect insiders from insider-trading accusations and gives investors a signal about predictable insider activity—though it can also simply be a way for insiders to diversify or raise cash.
dual-class structure regulatory
A dual-class structure is a way companies organize their ownership by creating two types of shares: one that gives shareholders more voting power and another with less or no voting rights. This approach allows certain shareholders, often company founders or insiders, to maintain control even if they own a smaller portion of the total shares. For investors, it matters because it can influence how much influence they have over company decisions and how the company's leadership is held accountable.

New cyber resilience option enables consistent patient care and rapid cyber recovery

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK), the Security and AI Operations Company, and MEDITECH, a leading enterprise health record (EHR) platform provider, today announced a strategic collaboration to offer native cyber resilience to MEDITECH self-hosted cloud and on-premises solutions. Rubrik will enable MEDITECH Expanse healthcare providers the option to accelerate cloud adoption with confidence, and give on-premises operators the benefits of cyber resilience from Rubrik Security Cloud.

The FBI reports that the healthcare industry is a top target for ransomware and cyber attacks. Rubrik’s collaboration with MEDITECH provides a cloud-based solution to keep hospital operations running and patient care uninterrupted, regardless of where their data lives.

“We are excited to certify Rubrik Security Cloud and give our customers more choice and flexibility when securing their critical data,” said Sean Benton, Director of Computer Scientists, MEDITECH. "This collaboration responds directly to customer interest in Rubrik’s technical capabilities and established presence in the data security space.”

The Rubrik Security Cloud integration will ensure that the organizations’ most critical data is immutable and rapidly recoverable during a cyber incident so that healthcare organizations can maintain continuity of care. For both self-hosted cloud and the installed base of on-premises health systems, Rubrik helps MEDITECH customers recover quickly and diminish financial and operational risks of downtime during a cyber event.

“Rubrik and MEDITECH equip healthcare organizations with a vital cyber resilience component for ensuring optimal patient outcomes,” said Josh Howell, Healthcare Chief Technology Officer at Rubrik. “The goal of protecting patient care and speeding the recovery of systems and data has never been more significant. Rubrik Security Cloud offers healthcare leaders the assurance that they can recover critical applications from a cyber event within days instead of weeks.”

Securing the Future of Digital Health

The integration of Rubrik Security Cloud with MEDITECH Expanse is managed through a unified Rubrik Security Cloud control plane, enabling consistent policy enforcement, threat detection, and recovery orchestration across the MEDITECH estate, including:

  • Immutable Protection: Ensures patient data is quickly recoverable during a cyber incident. Immutability prevents encryption, deletion, or alteration even when adversaries gain elevated access.
  • Native Threat Detection: Continuously monitors risks and investigates threats while finding the last known clean copy of data.
  • Data Recovery: Contains threats by quarantining malware and restricting user access to support safer recovery.
  • Data Archival: Leverages cloud storage for long-term, secure data retention.

Availability: Rubrik Security Cloud for MEDITECH Expanse is available immediately for select self-hosted cloud customers. Rubrik is also offering early access for native integration with MEDITECH on-premises customer deployments.
