ransomware technical
Ransomware is malicious software that locks or encrypts a company’s computer files and systems, then demands payment for their release — like a thief changing the locks on a business and asking for a ransom. It matters to investors because attacks can halt operations, trigger large cleanup costs, damage customer trust, lead to regulatory fines or legal claims, and reduce future revenue, all of which can hurt a company’s financial value.
cyber resilience technical
Cyber resilience is the ability of an organization or system to prepare for, respond to, and recover from cyber threats or attacks, while continuing to operate effectively. It’s like a fire-resistant building that not only withstands a fire but also quickly repairs itself and keeps people safe. For investors, strong cyber resilience reduces the risk of costly disruptions and helps protect the value and stability of digital assets.
cyberattack technical
A cyberattack is a deliberate digital break-in where criminals or hostile actors use software tools to disrupt operations, steal data, or take control of computer systems. For investors it matters because such incidents can halt revenue-generating activities, trigger costly investigations and fines, and damage customer trust, often leading to sudden drops in a company’s stock value and long-term costs, much like a physical break-in would harm a retail store’s business.
identity recovery technical
A set of services and actions used to restore a person’s financial and legal identity after it has been stolen, lost, or used fraudulently, including help with recovering accounts, fixing credit reports, replacing documents, and handling disputes or legal steps. Investors care because identity recovery affects customer trust, regulatory exposure, and potential costs or revenue for companies that sell these services — like hiring a locksmith and insurance after a break‑in.

Saving America’s Safety Net: Rubrik to Help Solve Hospital Cyber Incidents

U.S. healthcare is at a breaking point. Ransomware and other cyberattacks can force total facility shutdowns, a crisis that is life or death for patients, especially in communities with no other treatment options.

“A cyberattack against a hospital, which disrupts or delays healthcare delivery, is more than a technical issue; it is a threat to life crime,” said John Riggi, National Advisor for Cybersecurity and Risk at AHA. “Ransomware attacks that knock critical care systems offline threaten patient and community safety. As an AHA preferred provider for cyber resiliency, we can confidently recommend Rubrik as a reliable source to defend against and recover from sophisticated cyberthreats and ransomware attacks for our hospitals and healthcare system.”

The AHA’s Preferred Cybersecurity & Risk Provider Program identifies trusted providers with vetted services that can help hospitals and health systems protect their patients and operations from cyberattacks and physical threats.

The AHA represents nearly 90 percent of the nation’s hospitals and health systems, including more than 420,000 healthcare workers. With its AHA designation, Rubrik now offers hospital and health system leaders a concrete path to securing their infrastructure.

“Cyber resilience is essential now that frequent cyberattacks jeopardize the financial stability of healthcare systems and the safety of their patients,” said Josh Howell, Healthcare Chief Technology Officer at Rubrik. “Rubrik’s AHA designation is an honor that acknowledges the importance of minimizing the fallout from cyberattacks, knowing where and how to restore critical systems quickly, and, most importantly, ensuring uninterrupted care that saves lives.”

Exclusive to AHA members, Rubrik’s Cyber Resilience Bundle includes Identity Recovery, and Microsoft 365 protection to safeguard Tier 0 applications and maintain a Minimum Viable Hospital during attacks. The bundle includes an immersive ransomware-response workshop and a complimentary five-year financial impact assessment for providers to quantify and mitigate cyber risk.
