As Senior Vice President of The Grand Ole Opry, Dan has supported Komen for over 17 years, hosting the Opry Goes Pink fundraiser benefiting Komen’s efforts to continue breast cancer research and patient care services. Grammy award winner Amy Grant flipped the switch on the Opry’s signature barn backdrop turning it pink for the night. The event also featured Opry members Carrie Underwood, The Isaacs, Mandy Barnett, and Riders In The Sky, as well as Sophia Scott for a show benefiting Susan G. Komen.
“Dan has supported Komen’s efforts to end breast cancer for nearly two decades and we are excited to present him with the 2025 Promise Award,” said Joshua Daniel, Senior Director of Entertainment Engagement and Events at Susan G. Komen. “The annual Opry Goes Pink Fundraiser has gathered some of the biggest names in country music to benefit Komen’s mission, and Dan’s efforts have made this event an Opry staple. We are honored to celebrate his continued advocacy for those impacted by breast cancer with this year’s Promise Award.”
The Promise Award honors individuals who have gone above and beyond in the fight to help end breast cancer through their philanthropy, advocacy and commitment to reaching those impacted by the disease. Created in honor of the promise made by Susan G. Komen founder Nancy Brinker to end breast cancer forever, the award celebrates extraordinary leadership and impact. Since Komen’s founding in 1982, the Promise Award has recognized global changemakers, including Dolly Parton and Trisha Yearwood.
