Key Terms

ev/hev technical
EV/HEV stands for electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle. EVs run only on batteries and electric motors, while HEVs combine a gasoline engine with an electric motor and battery—think of an EV as a fully electric car and an HEV as a car with a gasoline backup for longer trips. Investors watch EV/HEV trends because shifts in technology, consumer demand, fuel costs and regulations can change sales, production costs and long-term market value for automakers and suppliers.
elastomeric materials technical
Elastomeric materials are flexible, rubber-like polymers that stretch and spring back to their original shape, similar to a rubber band. Investors care because these materials influence product performance, durability, manufacturing cost and regulatory compliance across industries (medical devices, consumer goods, automotive), so changes in supply, innovation or standards can affect a company’s sales, margins and risk profile.
