Key Terms

merger, fiduciary services, trust administration
3 terms
merger financial
"Field & Main operated 6 total retail branches ... which has merged with and into Stock Yards Bank & Trust Company."
A merger is when two companies combine into a single business, with ownership and control reorganized so they operate as one entity. For investors it matters because mergers can change the value and risk of holdings—shares may be exchanged, diluted, or rise if the combined company saves costs or gains market power, and the deal often depends on regulatory approval and successful integration like two households joining resources and routines.
fiduciary services financial
"he gained additional experience in trust administration, fiduciary services, and financial management"
Fiduciary services are professional duties where a person or firm legally and ethically must act in the best financial interest of a client—like a trusted guardian managing someone’s money rather than promoting what’s best for themselves. For investors this matters because fiduciaries must avoid conflicts, disclose fees and prioritize client outcomes, which can lower the risk of harmful advice, reduce hidden costs and increase confidence in how assets are managed.
trust administration financial
"positions with Hibernia National Bank, where he gained additional experience in trust administration, fiduciary services"
The process of managing and carrying out the instructions of a trust agreement, including safeguarding assets, making distributions to beneficiaries, paying taxes and expenses, and keeping records. Investors care because trusts often own stocks, bonds or real estate, so how a trustee handles investments, timing of payouts, tax treatment and reporting can affect asset value, liquidity and who ultimately benefits — like a caretaker running a household on behalf of absent owners.
