Key Terms

ipo financial
"IPOs | 13 | 39 | 12"
An initial public offering (IPO) is the process by which a private company sells its shares to the public for the first time, making its ownership available on the stock market. This allows the company to raise money from a wide range of investors to fund growth or other goals. For investors, an IPO offers a chance to buy into a company early in its public journey, potentially benefiting if the company grows in value.
secondary financings financial
"Secondary Financings Raised | $3,194,914,885 | $3,651,517,930"
Secondary financings are later rounds of selling a company’s stock or other securities after the initial public offering, either by issuing new shares to raise cash or by existing holders selling their shares. They matter to investors because they can dilute existing ownership and affect share prices, or provide liquidity and signal how urgently a company needs capital—like adding more seats on a bus, which can lower each passenger’s share of space but lets more people ride.
supplemental financings financial
"Supplemental Financings Raised | $1,038,639,000 | $42,006,875"
Supplemental financings are additional rounds of funding a company raises after its main financing, such as extra stock offerings, loans, or convertible notes. Investors should care because these moves change how ownership and cash are shared—like adding more slices to a pizza, each existing slice can get smaller—and they can signal whether a company needs more cash to continue operations or fund growth, affecting share value and risk.
capital pool company financial
"The new listings were two mining companies and one Capital Pool company."
A capital pool company is a publicly listed shell set up to raise initial funding and then merge with a private business so that the private firm can become public without a traditional IPO. For investors, it’s like backing a blank-check vehicle: you’re buying into an early-stage, high‑uncertainty opportunity that can deliver big gains if the merger creates value but also carries greater risk, limited operating history and potential for dilution, so careful scrutiny is essential.
prospectus offerings financial
"Secondary financings include prospectus offerings on both a treasury"
A prospectus offering is a public sale of securities (like stocks or bonds) that comes with a formal document — the prospectus — which explains what is being sold, the company’s finances, how the money will be used, and the main risks. For investors it’s the primary source of full, regulated information to judge whether the investment fits their goals, similar to reading a detailed product brochure before buying an expensive item.
