Key Terms

task order financial
A task order is a specific request for work or services issued under an existing contract, telling a supplier what to deliver, when, and for how much. For investors, task orders matter because they convert a broad contract promise into real, billable work—like adding items to a standing shopping list—and so winning or delivering task orders can directly affect a company’s near-term revenue and cash flow visibility.
performance based navigation technical
Performance based navigation (PBN) is an aviation framework that specifies the required accuracy, integrity and availability of an aircraft’s navigation performance rather than prescribing specific onboard equipment or flight paths. Think of it like telling drivers to stay within a lane and meet a speed, instead of giving them a fixed street-by-street route. For investors it matters because PBN can change airline route options, airport capacity, fuel use and operating costs, which can affect carriers’ revenues and margins.
operational research modeling technical
A set of mathematical, statistical and computer-based techniques used to build simplified representations of a company's processes, resources and decision rules so managers can analyze performance and test choices. Models can include simulations, optimization, queuing and forecasting and act like a map or flight simulator for operations. For investors, these models matter because they help quantify potential effects on costs, capacity, revenue and risk before real-world changes are made.
