Key Terms

intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technical
Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) are the activities and systems used to gather information about people, places and events—like a combination of watching with cameras and sensors, collecting clues, and making sense of them to know what is happening or likely to happen. Investors care because ISR drives demand for specialized equipment, software and services and affects national security spending and risk assessments; companies involved can see steady contracts, technology-driven growth, or heightened scrutiny depending on geopolitical developments.
digital signal processing technical
Digital signal processing is the use of computer algorithms to clean up, compress, analyze and transform raw electronic signals from sensors, microphones, cameras or other devices into useful information. For investors, it matters because these algorithms determine product performance, reliability, power use and cost—factors that affect a company’s competitiveness, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance much like a quality engine shapes a car’s value and appeal.
situational awareness technical
Awareness of the real-time business, market and regulatory conditions that could affect an investment; like a driver scanning the road for hazards, it means continuously noting news, price moves, regulatory signals and other forces that change a company’s prospects. Investors rely on situational awareness to react quickly to risks and opportunities, adjust position size, protect capital and seize short‑lived advantages before the environment shifts.
irregular warfare technical
Irregular warfare describes conflict conducted by nontraditional forces—such as insurgents, militias, terrorist groups, or covert teams—using tactics like hit-and-run attacks, sabotage, cyber intrusions, and information campaigns rather than open battlefield fights. For investors, it matters because these unpredictable, low-signature actions can disrupt supply chains, energy flows, trade routes and market confidence, altering company revenues, commodity prices and government defense or security spending much like a slow, scattershot storm that damages parts of an economy rather than a single, visible strike.
rf technical
rf (commonly written r_f) denotes the risk-free rate — the theoretical return on an investment with no chance of loss, often used as a baseline for valuing other assets. Investors use it like a yardstick: returns above this number compensate for extra risk, so it helps price stocks, bonds and option valuations and guides decisions about whether higher-return opportunities justify their added risk. Think of it as the safe deposit box interest rate against which riskier bets are measured.

AI-enabled ISR research & development to support U.S. Air Force platforms

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Voyager Technologies, Inc. [NYSE: VOYG] is on contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory under a $21 million contract to develop AI-enabled next-generation intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

“Today’s threats change fast, so our systems must adapt faster than the threats they counter,” said Matt Magaña, president of Space, Defense & National Security at Voyager. “By combining next-generation sensor architectures with open designs and built-in AI, we’re creating agile surveillance solutions ready for platforms across ground, air, surface, space and cyber.”

The effort focuses on the development of digital signal processing capabilities for multi-domain operations and delivery of situational awareness tools. These tools fuse information from multiple sources into a single, clear picture, helping decision-makers act faster and stay ahead in fast-moving situations. To address emerging ISR and cyber operations, Voyager is developing GPU-based surveillance systems enabled by AI to support irregular warfare in near-peer engagements, tracking threats in real-time, as they operate in both military and civilian RF infrastructures.

This award reinforces Voyager’s position at the forefront of defense innovation, developing airborne ISR technologies that scale seamlessly from tactical small Unmanned Aircraft Systems to high-altitude platforms while ensuring future-ready adaptability. Voyager’s mission expertise can rapidly transition these technologies to the field and may result in follow-on production contracts.
