Verizon and ForgiveCo have announced a $3 million initiative to eliminate consumer debt for veterans across Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin. The program will distribute $1 million in debt relief in each metropolitan market of Detroit, St. Louis, and Milwaukee, running from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Each week, $250,000 in veteran debt will be cleared per market for four weeks.

The initiative is supported by partnerships with the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA) and St. Louis Blues (NHL) to amplify awareness. Additionally, Verizon is offering veterans and military members in these regions special savings on mobile or home internet plans, including a $50 bill credit for activating a new smartphone line on select plans.

Total Wireless, a no-contract wireless provider powered by the Verizon 5G network, announces partnership with Puerto Rican boxing champion Amanda Serrano during Puerto Rican Heritage Month. Serrano, a seven-division world champion and first-ever undisputed champion from Puerto Rico, receives her first-ever phone and unlimited data plan at age 36. Verizon has secured a 24-month extension for its Global Network Solutions (GNS) contract with the Department of Defense, bringing the total contract value to over $98 million. The extension aims to establish a point-to-point connection in Southwest Asia for critical network communications. This builds on Verizon's extensive DoD partnerships, including a $2.67 billion U.S. Navy contract, three EIS awards worth nearly $1 billion, and a $15 million EIS task order for Navy voice and data services. The GNS contract is set for recompetition and award by 2026.

Verizon (VZ) remains operational during the Mountain and Broad Fires in Ventura County and Malibu, California. The offers expire on December 9, 2024, with an early participation deadline of November 21, 2024. The company is using a 'waterfall' methodology, accepting securities based on priority levels. Holders who tender by the early participation date will receive the Total Consideration, including an Early Participation Payment, while later submissions will receive the Tender Consideration. This initiative is part of Verizon's ongoing commitment to reduce leverage following its C-Band purchase in 2021.

Verizon Business has activated over 740 new Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) lines with TriMet, Portland's transit agency. The FWA implementation provides enhanced bandwidth for mission-critical applications, enabling features like mobile wallet fare payments and cloud-based Transit Signal Priority. This technology improves traffic flow efficiency and reduces carbon emissions while maintaining safety. The partnership implements Verizon Mobile Device Management for field devices and Verizon Connect Reveal fleet tracking software for 22 vehicles. The technology enables real-time data sharing, GPS-based spray calibration, and improved operational efficiency. The District reports reduced mosquito populations, increased public safety, and decreased chemical and fuel costs since implementing these solutions in 2020.

Verizon (VZ) and Wounded Warrior Project® announced a partnership to support at least 1,000 veterans with upskilling through Verizon's free Skill Forward program between Veterans Day 2024 and 2025. The program offers over 250 free credentialed courses through edX from universities, covering 80+ professional certificate programs in AI, business, coding, IT, and more. The initiative addresses veteran underemployment, which affects 33% of veterans. Additionally, Verizon offers military discounts including mobile plans starting at $25/month with 4 lines and Fios Home Internet from $45/month.
