The initiative combines an existing $20 million Reskilling and Career Transition Fund for departing workers with $50 million in new funding to provide free AI skills training. A centralized portal will offer premium content from IBM, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, Coursera, and OpenAI at no cost, training job seekers, early career professionals, displaced workers, educators, and small businesses. Verizon will partner with nonprofits such as LISC, NACCE, and Goodwill to deliver local coaching and support and will launch with core services in select regional markets nationwide.
Verizon (VZ) expanded its Verizon 6G Innovation Forum by adding nine new members, including AWS, Cisco, Intel, NVIDIA, MediaTek and Palo Alto Networks, to accelerate development of AI-native 6G architectures and use cases.

Verizon (VZ) and Corning have signed a multi-year, multi-billion dollar supply agreement through 2032 for more than 80 million miles of high-density optical fiber and connectivity solutions starting in 2027.
The fiber will support Verizon’s single, converged architecture that targets 40–50 million broadband passings while linking cell towers, data centers, and neighborhoods on the same high-capacity backbone. The deal underpins Verizon’s AI Connect strategy by building long-haul fiber corridors to directly interconnect AI data centers and hyperscalers such as AWS. The agreement is structured to give Verizon supply certainty and enable Corning to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint.
