truckload carriers associationtechnical
An association of truckload carriers is an industry trade group that represents companies that transport full truckloads of freight. It lobbies regulators, publishes safety and operational standards, offers training, and collects industry data—functions like a chamber of commerce for long-haul trucking—so investors watch it for signals about regulation, cost pressures, industry trends, and benchmarks that can affect carrier profitability and freight rates.
for-hire truckload carrierstechnical
For-hire truckload carriers are companies that move large, full-vehicle shipments for other businesses in exchange for payment, similar to hiring a moving truck to carry an entire household’s goods. They matter to investors because their revenue and profits track overall freight demand, fuel and labor costs, and pricing power; changes in consumer spending, trade volumes or shipping rates can quickly affect their margins and stock performance.
intermodaltechnical
Intermodal is the movement of freight using two or more types of transportation—for example truck, rail and ship—while the cargo stays in the same container as it changes modes. Investors watch intermodal capacity and costs because it can lower shipping expenses, speed delivery, reduce damage and emissions, and increase supply‑chain reliability, all of which affect a company's margins and competitiveness—like a well‑timed relay handoff.
OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Werner Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, is honored to be named a 2026 Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) Elite Fleet. This marks the second consecutive year Werner has received this prestigious designation, following its recognition in the program's inaugural year in 2025.
Developed in partnership with the University of Denver’s Transportation & Supply Chain Institute, the TCA Elite Fleet certification honors North American for-hire truckload carriers that demonstrate excellence in creating supportive, rewarding and driver-focused work environments. Werner is one of 57 carriers named to the 2026 class, recognized for prioritizing competitive compensation, strong safety cultures and innovative practices that enhance the quality of life behind the wheel.
“At Werner, our drivers are the heart of our operation and the driving force behind our success,” said Werner’s Chairman and CEO, Derek Leathers. “Earning the TCA Elite Fleet certification for the second year in a row is a powerful validation of our culture. It reinforces our commitment to providing a workplace where our drivers feel respected, supported and equipped with the industry’s best resources.”
The certification process involves a rigorous, data-driven evaluation of critical performance indicators, including safety, driver satisfaction, turnover, equipment quality and operational efficiency. To ensure transparency and credibility, the TCA utilizes independent surveys of company drivers and independent contractors to validate carrier submissions.
Werner and the other 2026 TCA Elite Fleets will be honored during a special awards luncheon on Monday, March 2, at the TCA’s Annual Convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida.
