upfittingtechnical
Upfitting is the process of modifying a base vehicle by adding specialized equipment or alterations so it can perform a specific job — think of turning a plain van into a mobile workshop by installing shelving, lighting, a generator or safety gear. For investors, upfitting matters because it creates additional revenue streams, affects the total cost and resale value of commercial fleets, and links vehicle makers with aftermarket suppliers and service providers in the supply chain.
telematicstechnical
Telematics is the technology that collects, transmits and analyzes data from vehicles or remote equipment—such as location, speed, engine status and sensor readings—using GPS, cellular networks and onboard computers. For investors it matters because telematics turns physical assets into data-rich services, enabling new revenue streams (like usage-based insurance, fleet optimization, or predictive maintenance), reducing costs and improving risk visibility much like a fitness tracker does for health.
New facility expands western service footprint, giving fleets faster access to Ready-to-Mount solutions and upfitting services
LAFAYETTE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Wabash (NYSE: WNC), a leader in end-to-end supply chain solutions for the transportation, logistics and infrastructure markets, is expanding its western service footprint with the opening of a new Parts and Services center in Phoenix. The new location strengthens Wabash’s growing parts and services network, meeting customers where work happens and improving access to the support that fleets need to operate with greater speed, reliability and confidence, regardless of location.
Strategically located along I-10, a growing business corridor, the Phoenix center positions Wabash closer to both existing and prospective customers across the Southwest. By providing expanded access to quick and tailored upfit services, the facility enables fleets to put vehicles on the road more quickly and meet the growing needs of their mobile workforce across the greater Phoenix metro area.
The new facility offers a range of services including Wabash’s Ready-to-Mount solutions, which combine pre-built dry freight and platform bodies with mounting and other options. These solutions significantly shorten delivery times, allowing fleets to receive vehicles in just a couple of weeks rather than months, helping customers respond faster to operational demands and growth opportunities. Added upfitting and repair services include the integration of shelving, roof racks, lift gates, telematics and other components enabling fleets to deploy vehicles that are customized, job-ready and aligned with their specific operational needs.
“Our next facility in Phoenix expands the reach of Wabash in the West and brings our services closer to where our customers operate every day,” said Dave Hill, vice president, Recurring Revenue at Wabash. “We continue to see strong demand for our Ready-to-Mount solutions and upfitting services, with our 2025 upfit volumes nearly doubling volumes from the previous year. By expanding our footprint in Phoenix, we’re better positioned to meet that demand and provide customers of all sizes with faster delivery, greater uptime and the confidence that support is there when where they need it.”
In addition to its new Phoenix facility, Wabash operates Parts and Services centers across southern California, Dallas, Chicago, Columbus, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Tampa regions, supported by an expanding dealer network.
