Rhea-AI Filing Summary

Jianpu Technology Inc. (AIJTY) reports that FINRA has set October 20, 2026 as the ex-dividend date for its previously announced special cash dividend. The dividend totals US$0.02495 per ordinary share, or US$0.499 per American depositary share (ADS), and is expected to be paid in October 2026.

Because the dividend exceeds 25% of the Company’s ADS price, FINRA determined that the ex-dividend date will fall on the first business day after the expected payment date of October 19, 2026, and that due bill procedures will apply, which are settled between brokers rather than by Jianpu.

Positive

  • Company is paying a special cash dividend of US$0.499 per ADS, indicating a significant one-time return of capital to shareholders.
  • FINRA has confirmed an ex-dividend date of October 20, 2026, giving clear timing for when dividend rights will detach from the ADSs.

Negative

  • None.

Dividend threshold vs ADS price Exceeds 25% of ADS price Dividend size relative to ADS price triggered special ex-dividend timing and due bill procedures
Expected dividend payment date October 19, 2026 First business day before the ex-dividend date; used by FINRA in setting the ex-date
Announcement date of dividend September 2, 2026 Date on which the special cash dividend was originally announced
ex-dividend date financial
"FINRA has set October 20, 2026 as the ex-dividend date"
The ex-dividend date is the date when a stock starts trading without the value of its next dividend payment included. If you buy the stock on or after this date, you won't receive that upcoming dividend; only those who owned the stock before this date are entitled to it. It matters to investors because it determines who is eligible to receive the dividend and can influence the stock’s price around that time.
special cash dividend financial
"the Company’s special cash dividend to be paid in October 2026"
A special cash dividend is a one-time, extra cash payment a company gives to its shareholders in addition to its regular dividends, like a bonus check sent out when a business has more cash than usual. It matters to investors because it delivers immediate cash value, can signal that the company has strong short-term cash or limited opportunities to reinvest, and typically reduces the company’s cash reserves and may affect the stock price and tax treatment for recipients.
American depositary share financial
"US$0.499 per American depositary share (“ADS”)"
An American Depositary Share (ADS) is a U.S.-listed certificate that represents a specified number of shares in a foreign company, held by a custodian bank; it works like a receipt that allows U.S. investors to buy and trade foreign equity on American exchanges without dealing with another country’s markets. Investors care because ADSs make foreign stocks easier to access, improve liquidity and settlement in dollars, and can affect dividend payments, voting rights and regulatory oversight compared with buying the underlying foreign shares directly.
due bill procedures financial
"Accordingly, the due bill procedures will be applied."
A set of rules and short-term trades used by broker-dealers to correct who gets a dividend, interest payment, or other corporate entitlement when a security changes hands around the record date but the official settlement hasn’t yet matched the entitlement. Think of it like a temporary IOU system that makes sure the person who sold a stock after the dividend was declared still receives or compensates for the payment they were entitled to. These procedures matter to investors because they protect fair allocation of cash or securities tied to corporate actions during the settlement gap.
forward-looking statements regulatory
"This announcement contains forward-looking statements."
Forward-looking statements are predictions or plans that companies share about what they expect to happen in the future, like estimating sales or profits. They matter because they help investors understand a company's outlook, but since they are based on guesses and assumptions, they can sometimes be wrong.
safe harbor regulatory
"made under the “safe harbor” provisions of the U.S. Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995"
Safe harbor is a rule that protects companies or individuals from legal trouble if they follow certain guidelines or procedures. It’s like having a safety net that allows them to act without fear of punishment, as long as they stick to the rules. This helps encourage honest behavior and clear standards in financial and legal activities.

FAQ

AI-generated questions and answers. How Rhea-AI works. Not financial advice.

What special cash dividend is Jianpu Technology Inc. (AIJTY) paying?

Jianpu is paying a special cash dividend of US$0.02495 per ordinary share, or US$0.499 per ADS, to shareholders, with the dividend scheduled to be paid in October 2026 as previously announced on September 2, 2026.

What is the ex-dividend date for Jianpu (AIJTY)’s special cash dividend?

FINRA has set October 20, 2026 as the ex-dividend date for Jianpu’s special cash dividend. Because the dividend exceeds 25% of the Company’s ADS price, the ex-dividend date is the first business day after the expected payment date.

When is Jianpu (AIJTY)’s special dividend expected to be paid?

The special cash dividend is expected to be paid on October 19, 2026. As the dividend exceeds 25% of the ADS price, FINRA set the ex-dividend date as October 20, 2026, the first business day following this expected payment date.

Why do due bill procedures apply to Jianpu (AIJTY)’s dividend?

Due bill procedures apply because Jianpu’s special cash dividend of US$0.499 per ADS exceeds 25% of its ADS price. FINRA therefore set the ex-dividend date after the expected payment date, and due bills will be settled between brokers, not by Jianpu.

Does Jianpu (AIJTY) handle the due bill payments for this dividend?

No. Jianpu states that it has no obligation for either the amount of the due bill or its processing. The due-bill obligations are settled customarily between the brokers representing buyers and sellers of the ADSs.

What should buyers and sellers of Jianpu (AIJTY) ADSs consider around the ex-dividend date?

Jianpu states that buyers and sellers of its ADSs should consult their brokers before trading to understand the effect of the due-bill procedures, given the ex-dividend date of October 20, 2026 and the expected payment date of October 19, 2026.
