How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Net interest margin financial
"Net interest margin for the quarter was 3.08%"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
Adjusted Pre-tax Earnings financial
"pre-tax, pre-provision income ("Adjusted Pre-tax Earnings")"
Provision for credit losses financial
"Provision for credit losses on loans of $8.0 million"
Provision for credit losses is an amount set aside by a financial institution to cover potential future losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution manage risks and stay financially healthy. For investors, it signals how cautious a lender is about potential loan defaults and can impact the company's profitability and financial stability.
Nonperforming loans financial
"Nonperforming loans, which include nonaccrual loans"
Nonperforming loans are loans on which borrowers have stopped making the scheduled interest or principal payments for an extended period (commonly 90 days or more) or are otherwise in serious danger of default. Think of them as IOUs that aren’t being repaid: they tie up a lender’s money, reduce future interest income, and force the lender to hold extra reserves or take losses. For investors, a rising share of nonperforming loans signals weakening credit quality, higher potential losses, and greater risk to a bank’s profitability and capital.
Brokered deposits financial
"Brokered deposits as a percentage of total deposits declined"
Brokered deposits are large sums of customer cash placed at a bank through a third-party intermediary that shops around for the best interest rate, like a broker assembling a big bucket of savings and directing it to a bank. They matter to investors because they can quickly change a bank’s funding level and cost — providing fast liquidity but also adding volatility and regulatory scrutiny that can affect a bank’s stability and profitability.
Net loss $4.2 million Compared with a net loss of $1.3 million in the second quarter of 2026 and net income of $5.6 million in the third quarter of 2025.
Net interest income $17.4 million Compared with $16.5 million in the second quarter of 2026 and $21.9 million in the third quarter of 2025.
Net interest margin 3.08% Compared with 2.91% in the second quarter of 2026 and 3.60% in the third quarter of 2025.
Adjusted Pre-tax Earnings $5.3 million Compared with $2.9 million in the second quarter of 2026; excludes merger-related and severance expenses.

On August 17, 2026, the Company and HomeTrust Bancshares, Inc. expense discipline. In addition, we further de-risked the balance sheet with a substantial charge-off on a legacy out-of-footprint relationship operating in the hydroponic farming business," commented Harry Golliday, interim president and chief executive officer.

The decrease in nonperforming loans includes a $9.9 million charge-off in the quarter of the previously-mentioned out-of-market loans to a single borrower. The loans were originated prior to 2024 by the Company's former government guaranteed lending team. The Company believes the credit issues affecting this borrower are unique and not systemic to the Company's overall loan portfolio. Following the third quarter charge-off, the remaining outstanding loan balances associated with this borrower totaled approximately $1.5 million as of September 30, 2026. Nonperforming assets, which include other real estate owned, were $26.7 million, or 1.14% of total assets, at September 30, 2026, compared to $32.8 million, or 1.41% of total assets, at June 30, 2026.

The ratio of net loan charge-offs to average loans outstanding (quarter-to-date annualized) was 2.20% and 0.14% for the third and second quarters, respectively.

Income Statement:

Net interest income was $17.4 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to $16.5 million and $21.9 million for the second quarter of 2026 and the third quarter of 2025, respectively. 4

Average balances of interest-earning assets were $2.26 billion for the third quarter of 2026, a decrease of $21.0 million from the prior quarter, and $177.6 million from the third quarter of 2025. Loan yields in the third quarter of 2025 benefited by 62 basis points from $3.0 million of fee income recognized upon the payoff of an out-of-market loan. Accretion of discounts on acquired loans had a 6, 3, and 7 basis point positive effect on loans held for investment yields in the third quarter of 2026, second quarter of 2026, and third quarter of 2025, respectively.

Average balances of interest-bearing liabilities were $1.65 billion for both the third and second quarters of 2026, and $1.74 billion for the third quarter of 2025, a decline of $91.3 million from the 2025 period. The decline in average balances of interest-bearing liabilities relative to the third quarter of 2025 was primarily due to reductions of interest-bearing deposits ($121.4 million) and borrowings ($13.3 million of subordinated notes), partially offset by an increase in average balances of FHLB borrowings ($43.4 million). Interest expense declined by $0.3 million to $12.0 million in the third quarter of 2026 from the second quarter of 2026 and by $2.3 million from the third quarter of 2025, primarily driven by lower average balances of higher cost brokered deposits and subordinated notes.

Cost of funds was 2.35% for the third quarter of 2026, compared to 2.41% for the second quarter of 2026, and 2.65% for the third quarter of 2025, while cost of deposits was 2.22%, 2.25%, and 2.51%, for the same respective periods. These declines reflect lower average balances of higher-cost brokered deposits. Cost of deposits, excluding brokered deposits, was 1.98% and 1.97% for the third and second quarters, respectively, compared to 2.13% for the year-ago quarter period.

Improvement in NIM in the third quarter of 2026 relative to the second quarter of 2026 was primarily a result of an increase in yields on loans held for investment and lower cost of funds.

Provision for (recovery of) credit losses on loans of $8.0 million, $3.5 million, and ($1.8 million) was reported in the third quarter of 2026, second quarter of 2026, and third quarter of 2025, respectively. Provision for credit losses on loans in both the third and second quarters of 2026 was primarily driven by provision needs for the previously-mentioned out-of-market loans. Provision for credit losses for unfunded commitments of $0.5 million, $0.6 million, and $0 was reported in the third quarter of 2026, second quarter of 2026, and third quarter of 2025, respectively. Provision for credit losses for unfunded commitments in the third and second quarters of 2026 reflected an increase in committed but unfunded loans to commercial construction borrowers.

Noninterest income was $2.6 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared to $1.8 million for the second quarter of 2026, and $3.8 million for the third quarter of 2025. Noninterest income for the second quarter of 2026 included a $0.6 million loss recognized upon the liquidation of an

Noninterest expense was $15.9 million for both the third and second quarters of 2026, and $20.0 million for the third quarter of 2025. Noninterest expense declines from the second quarter of 2026 associated with salaries and employee benefits were offset by merger-related expenses. The $4.2 million decrease from the year-ago period was primarily driven by a decline in salaries and employee benefits ($3.5 million) and legal and regulatory filings ($0.8 million), partially offset by $1.2 million of merger-related expenses in the third quarter of 2026. The number of employees decreased from 311 at September 30, 2025 to 255 at September 30, 2026.

Balance Sheet:

Loans held for investment were $1.89 billion at September 30, 2026, compared to $1.85 billion at June 30, 2026, and $1.91 billion at September 30, 2025. The $33.1 million increase compared to the prior quarter was primarily driven by growth in residential mortgages arising from the Company's agreement with a third-party residential mortgage originator, whereby the Company purchases adjustable-rate mortgage loans originated generally within its market area. This program provides a primary mortgage product to the Company's consumer customers. Loans held for investment declined $26.1 million from the third quarter of 2025. Loans held for sale at both September 30, 2026 and June 30, 2026 were $0, compared to $12.8 million as of September 30, 2025, reflecting the exit of indirect fintech lending.

Total deposits were $1.81 billion at September 30, 2026, a decrease of $48.2 million and $136.9 million from June 30, 2026 and September 30, 2025, respectively. Brokered deposit balances were $156.9 million, $185.8 million, and $267.9 million at the end of the third quarter of 2026, second quarter of 2026, and third quarter of 2025, respectively. Brokered deposits as a percentage of total deposits declined to 8.6% at September 30, 2026, from 10.0% at June 30, 2026, and 13.7% at September 30, 2025. Excluding brokered deposits, total deposits decreased $19.2 million from June 30, 2026 and $25.9 million from September 30, 2025. Reclassifications:

Certain amounts presented in the consolidated financial statements of prior periods have been reclassified to conform to current period presentations. The reclassifications had no effect on net income (loss), net income (loss) per share, or stockholders’ equity, as previously reported.

Non-GAAP Financial Measures:

The accounting and reporting policies of the Company conform to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) and prevailing practices in the banking industry. However, management uses certain non-GAAP measures, including tangible assets, tangible common equity, tangible book value per common share, and tangible common equity to tangible total assets to supplement the evaluation of the Company’s financial condition and performance. Management believes presentations of these non-GAAP financial measures provide useful supplemental information that is essential to a proper understanding of the financial condition and capital position of the Company’s business. In addition, management uses pre-tax, pre-provision income excluding merger-related and severance expenses to supplement the evaluation of the Company's statement of operations. These non-GAAP disclosures should not be viewed as a substitute for financial measures determined in accordance with GAAP, nor are they necessarily comparable to non-GAAP performance measures that may be presented by other companies. Reconciliations of GAAP to non-GAAP measures are included at the end of this release.

Forward-Looking Statements:

This release of the Company contains forward-looking statements within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. These forward-looking statements represent plans, estimates, objectives, goals, guidelines, expectations, intentions, projections, and statements of management’s beliefs concerning future events, business plans, objectives, expected operating results, and the assumptions upon which those statements are based. The Company cautions that the forward-looking statements are based largely on management’s expectations and are subject to a number of known and unknown risks and uncertainties that may change based on factors which are, in many instances, beyond its control. Actual results, performance, or achievements could

•

•

•

•
the economic impact of duties, tariffs, or other barriers or restrictions on trade, any retaliatory countermeasures, and the volatility and uncertainty arising therefrom;
•
the occurrence or continuation of widespread health emergencies or pandemics, significant natural disasters, severe weather conditions, floods and other catastrophic events;
•
the Company’s involvement in, and the outcome of, any litigation, legal proceedings or enforcement actions that may be instituted against the Company; and
•
