How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Filing Explained

At September 30, 2026, Camden National reported that higher rates had raised unrealized losses on available-for-sale securities to $77.5 million. The resulting $25.1 million after-tax increase in accumulated other comprehensive loss contributed to tangible book value per share falling to $31.40 from $31.64 at June 30, though it remained above $28.42 a year earlier.

Net interest margin financial
"Net interest margin expanded 15 basis points"
Net interest margin measures how much a bank earns from lending and investing compared with what it pays for funding, expressed as a percentage of its interest-earning assets. Think of it like a grocery store’s markup: it shows the gap between buying cost and selling price per dollar of goods — here, the cost is interest paid and the sale is interest received. Investors watch it because a higher margin usually means a bank is more profitable and better at managing interest rate and credit conditions.
Core deposits financial
"core deposits (non-GAAP) of 7%"
Core deposits are the stable, everyday customer balances a bank keeps—like checking and savings accounts and regular business deposits—that are unlikely to be withdrawn suddenly. Think of them as a household’s paycheck direct-deposits: predictable, low-cost funding the bank can rely on. For investors, a larger share of core deposits means steadier cash available, lower borrowing needs and interest expenses, and therefore more predictable earnings and lower risk.
Allowance for credit losses financial
"allowance for credit losses to 0.92% of total loans"
Allowance for credit losses is a reserve set aside by a financial institution to cover potential losses from borrowers who may not repay their loans. It acts like a safety net, helping the institution prepare for loans that might turn sour. For investors, it signals how cautious the institution is about the quality of its loans and potential risks to its financial health.
Tangible book value per share financial
"tangible book value per share (non-GAAP)"
Tangible book value per share is the company's total physical and financial assets minus its liabilities and intangible items (like goodwill and brand value), divided by the number of outstanding shares. It gives investors a conservative, per‑share estimate of what would remain if the business sold only its hard assets and paid its debts—useful for judging whether a stock is priced above or below its underlying, tangible worth, like valuing a property by its bricks and cash rather than its reputation.
Common Equity Tier 1 ratio financial
"Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 12.53%"
The common equity tier 1 ratio is a measure of a bank's financial strength, showing how much high-quality core capital it has compared to its total risk-weighted assets. Think of it as a safety buffer or cushion that helps ensure the bank can withstand economic shocks. For investors, a higher ratio indicates a stronger, more resilient bank, making it a key indicator of its financial health.

Camden National Corporation Reports Third Quarter 2026 Net Income Up 8% Year Over Year

Strong deposit growth, credit quality and disciplined execution drive financial performance

CAMDEN, Maine, October 27, 2026/PRNewswire/--Camden National Corporation (NASDAQ: CAC; “Camden National” or the “Company”) reported net income of $22.8 million and diluted earnings per share (“EPS”) of $1.34 for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, resulting in a return on average assets of 1.31%, a return on average equity of 12.36%, and a return on average tangible equity (non‑GAAP) of 17.47%.

“Our third-quarter results demonstrate continued momentum across the franchise, with year-over-year earnings growth, meaningful deposit growth, and strong credit performance,” said Simon Griffiths, President and Chief Executive Officer of Camden National Corporation. “Strong deposit growth and continued customer acquisition improved our funding mix, reduced reliance on higher-cost borrowings, and expanded net interest margin by 15 basis points from the second quarter to 3.41%. At the same time, we maintained disciplined expense management while investing in our lending teams and future growth. With record earnings through the first nine months of the year and a stronger balance sheet, we are confident that we are well positioned to deliver sustained earnings growth and long-term shareholder value.”

For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, the Company reported record net income of $67.7 million and diluted EPS of $3.98, compared to $42.6 million and $2.51, respectively, for the same period of 2025. On a non-GAAP basis, adjusted net income, which excludes acquisition-related costs and other non-recurring items incurred during the nine months ended September 30, 2025, increased 31% between periods.

THIRD QUARTER 2026 HIGHLIGHTS

•Net income of $22.8 million and diluted EPS of $1.34 for the third quarter of 2026 increased 8% and 7%, respectively, over the same period last year, and were each 1% lower than reported record financial results for the prior quarter.
•Deposits grew 5% during the third quarter of 2026, driven by growth in core deposits (non-GAAP) of 7% since June 30, 2026.

•Asset quality remained strong, with non-performing loans and past-due loans representing 0.16% and 0.14% of total loans, respectively, at September 30, 2026.
•The GAAP efficiency ratio for the third quarter was 54.60%, and the non-GAAP efficiency ratio was 52.44%, compared to 55.42% and 53.23%, respectively, for the second quarter of 2026.
•Net interest margin expanded 15 basis points during the third quarter of 2026, compared to the second quarter of 2026, to 3.41%.
•Book value per share was $42.65 and tangible book value per share (non-GAAP) was $31.40 at September 30, 2026, an increase of 7% and 10%, respectively, compared to September 30, 2025.

FINANCIAL OPERATING RESULTS (Q3 2026 vs. Q2 2026)

Net interest income totaled $55.4 million in the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 5% from the prior quarter. Net interest margin expanded 15 basis points to 3.41%, primarily reflecting lower funding costs as 3% growth in average deposits supported a 26% reduction in average borrowings. Net fair value mark accretion income increased $224,000 to $4.2 million and contributed 31 basis points to third-quarter net interest margin.

Provision expense totaled $1.9 million for the third quarter of 2026, compared with $710,000 in the prior quarter. The increase reflected macroeconomic factors that contributed to a 1-basis-point increase in the allowance for credit losses to 0.92% of total loans at September 30, 2026, as well as higher reserves related to growth in unfunded credit commitments. Asset quality remained strong, with non-performing loans and past-due loans at 0.16% and 0.14% of total loans, respectively, as of September 30, 2026, while annualized net charge-offs remained low at 0.07% of average loans.

Non-interest income for the third quarter of 2026 totaled $13.2 million, a decrease of $1.2 million, or 8%, from the prior quarter. The decrease was primarily due to lower mortgage banking and bank-owned life insurance income, driven by quarter-end fair value accounting adjustments reflecting changes in market conditions. Underlying customer activity remained solid, supported by higher debit card income and growing assets under administration within the Company's wealth and brokerage businesses, which increased 1% to $2.6 billion during the quarter.

Non-interest expense for the third quarter of 2026 totaled $37.5 million, an increase of less than 1% from the prior quarter. The Company’s GAAP and non‑GAAP efficiency ratios for the third quarter of 2026 were 54.60% and 52.44% compared to 55.42% and 53.23%, respectively, for the second quarter of 2026.

FINANCIAL CONDITION

Total assets were $7.1 billion at September 30, 2026, compared to $7.0 billion at June 30, 2026.

Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash increased to $248.6 million at September 30, 2026, from $99.9 million at June 30, 2026, primarily reflecting strong third-quarter deposit growth and timing of cash flows.

Investments totaled $1.3 billion at September 30, 2026, representing a 4% decrease from June 30, 2026. The increase in the interest rate environment during the quarter resulted in an increase in unrealized losses on the available-for-sale investment portfolio of $32.6 million to $77.5 million at September 30, 2026.

Total loans were $5.0 billion at September 30, 2026, a decrease of $2.2 million from June 30, 2026. Home equity and residential mortgage loans grew 7% and 1%, respectively, from the prior quarter, while commercial real estate and commercial loans decreased 2% and 3%, respectively, with the declines primarily attributable to several large loan prepayments.

Total deposits were $5.8 billion at September 30, 2026, an increase of 5% from June 30, 2026. On a non-GAAP basis, core deposits grew 7% during the third quarter of 2026 to $5.2 billion, and represented 88% of total deposits. Strong core deposit growth from normal seasonal deposit flows in our markets and continued success in

customer acquisition enabled the Company to optimize its higher-cost deposits and borrowings. At September 30, 2026, borrowings totaled $374.4 million, compared to $571.1 million at June 30, 2026. As of September 30, 2026, the Company's loan-to-deposit ratio was 86%, compared to 90% at June 30, 2026.

As of September 30, 2026, the Company maintained capital ratios well in excess of all regulatory requirements, including a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 12.53%, a Tier 1 risk-based ratio of 13.83%, a total risk-based ratio of 14.82%, and a Tier 1 leverage ratio of 9.92%.

The tangible common equity ratio and tangible book value per share were 7.73% and $31.40, respectively, as of September 30, 2026, compared to 7.91% and $31.64 at June 30, 2026. The decreases reflected a $25.1 million net-of-tax increase in accumulated other comprehensive loss resulting from the increase in unrealized losses on the available-for-sale investment portfolio.

The Company did not repurchase any shares of its common stock during the third quarter of 2026. For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, the Company repurchased 85,131 shares at a weighted average price of $46.55 per share under its share repurchase program.

The Company announced a cash dividend of $0.42 per share, representing an annualized dividend yield of 3.04%, based on the Company's closing share price of $55.35 as reported by NASDAQ on September 30, 2026. The dividend will be payable on October 30, 2026, to shareholders of record on October 15, 2026.

In addition to evaluating the Company's results of operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in the United States ("GAAP"), management supplements this evaluation with certain non-GAAP financial measures such as: adjusted net income; adjusted diluted earnings per share; adjusted return on average assets; adjusted return on average equity; pre-tax, pre-provision income; adjusted pre-tax, pre-provision income; return on average tangible equity and adjusted return on average tangible equity; the efficiency and tangible common equity ratios; core net interest margin; and tangible book value per share. Management utilizes these non-GAAP financial measures to measure our performance against our peer group and other financial institutions, and to analyze our internal performance. In addition, these non-GAAP financial measures remove the impact of unusual items that may obscure trends in the Company's underlying performance.
