Operating expenses were $121.8 million versus $101.4 million, with the increase largely due to interest expense associated with higher loan origination volumes.

Credit measures improved year over year: total delinquencies including repossession inventory were 12.29% versus 13.96%, annualized net charge-offs were 7.26% versus 8.01%, and net recovery rates were 32.0% versus 28.7%. CPS renewed a warehouse line, raising its capacity to $508 million from $335 million, and closed its third asset-backed securitization of 2026, the company's 110th and largest deal in its 35-year history.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Annualized net charge-offs financial
"Annualized net charge-offs as a percent of the average portfolio"
Annualized net charge-offs measure the pace at which a lender writes off loans as uncollectible, converted to a full-year rate so short-period results can be compared over time. Think of it as the percentage of a bank’s loan book that’s effectively treated as a loss over a year; investors watch it because rising charge-offs signal deteriorating loan quality and can cut profits, reduce capital, and increase risk for shareholders.
Net recovery rates financial
"Net recovery rates on repossessed collateral sold at wholesale auction"
Residual interest financing financial
"Residual interest financing"
A financing arrangement where a lender or investor provides cash now in exchange for a claim on the leftover future value or ongoing cash flows from an asset or pool of assets, rather than a simple fixed loan repayment. It matters to investors because returns and obligations depend on how those assets perform: good performance can boost the financier’s payoff, while weak performance can reduce or eliminate expected returns, so this structure shifts more risk and reward tied to the underlying asset—think of selling a house but keeping the right to any future appreciation.
Finance receivables measured at fair value financial
"Finance receivables measured at fair value"
Warehouse lines of credit financial
"Warehouse lines of credit"
A warehouse line of credit is a short-term revolving loan that a lender or dealer uses to temporarily fund assets—such as mortgages, loans, or inventory—until those assets are sold, packaged, or otherwise converted to long-term funding. Think of it as a bridge loan or an overdraft that helps keep business flowing; investors watch these lines because their size, cost, and availability signal whether a company can maintain growth, manage cash needs, and withstand market disruptions.

Chief Executive Officer Commentary

“Our accelerating origination volume is demonstrating strong operating leverage in our business, as increases to net income are outpacing revenue and driving solid financial results, “said Charles E. Bradley, Chief Executive Officer. “Both the broadening of our dealership network and the deepening of relationships with existing dealers allows us to accelerate origination volume and capture market share, while remaining selective on the contracts we purchase.”

THIRD QUARTER 2026 RESULTS

Revenue- Total revenue for the third quarter of 2026 was $131.9 million, an increase of $23.5 million, or 21.7%, compared to $108.4 million for the third quarter of 2025. Total revenue for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, was $365.6 million, an increase of approximately $40.5 million, or 12.5% compared to $325.1 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025. Interest income, for both the third quarter and first nine months of 2026, was the largest driver of the increase in total revenue. The increase in interest income over the prior year periods is due to the growth in the loan portfolio from accelerating loan origination volume across an expanding dealer network.

Expenses- Total operating expenses for the third quarter of 2026 were $121.8 million compared to $101.4 million for the third quarter of 2025. Total operating expenses for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, were $338.5 million, compared to $304.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025. The increase in expense for both the third quarter and first nine months of 2026 is largely due to interest expense in conjunction with the increase in loan origination volumes. Interest expense comprised approximately 58% of total operating expenses for both the third quarter and first nine months of 2026 and 2025, demonstrating discipline in the cost structure of our borrowings as the portfolio grows.

Pretax Income- Pretax income for the third quarter of 2026 increased 44.3%, or $3.1 million to $10.1 million, compared to $7.0 million for the third quarter of 2025. Pretax income for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, increased 30.3%, or $6.3 million to $27.1 million, compared to $20.8 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025.

Net Income- Net income for the third quarter of 2026 increased 43.3%, or $2.1 million to $7.0 million, compared to $4.9 million for the third quarter of 2025. Net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, increased 30.8%, or $4.4 million to $18.7 million, compared to $14.3 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2025. The increase to net income in both the third quarter and first nine months of 2026 is attributable to the increases in loan origination volume. The increases in net income outpacing the increases in revenue demonstrates strong operating leverage across the Company.

Diluted Earnings Per Share (EPS)- Diluted earnings per share for the third quarter of 2026 increased 50.0%, or $0.10 per share to $0.30 per share, compared to $0.20 per share for the third quarter of 2025. Diluted earnings per share for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, increased 35.6%, or $0.21 per share to $0.80 per share, compared to $0.59 per share for the nine months ended September 30, 2025. Growth in diluted earnings per share was driven by higher net income alongside a lower diluted share count during the period.

THIRD QUARTER 2026 OPERATIONAL OVERVIEW

During the third quarter and first nine months of 2026, the Company grew the portfolio to record levels and demonstrated positive credit performance across delinquencies, charge-offs, and auction recovery rates.

Loan Origination Volume (Contract Purchases)- Contract purchases for the third quarter of 2026 increased 108.5%, or $424.2 million to $815.3 million, compared to $391.1 million for the third quarter of 2025. The accelerating volume across both periods was driven by expanding our dealership base through strategic additions to our sales force, as well as enhancements that increased the speed and efficiency of contract underwriting and funding.
