Environmental, Social, and Governance financial
"Centerspace has published its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report"
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) describes a set of non-financial criteria used to evaluate how a company manages its impact on the planet, its relationships with employees, customers and communities, and the strength of its leadership, policies and oversight. Investors treat ESG like a maintenance and reputation checklist: companies with strong ESG practices may face fewer regulatory, legal or social problems and are often viewed as lower-risk and better positioned for sustainable long-term returns.
greenhouse gas inventory technical
"Key accomplishments include completion of a portfolio-wide greenhouse gas inventory"
A greenhouse gas inventory is a company’s accounting of the gases it emits—such as carbon dioxide and methane—broken down by source (operations, energy use, supply chain) and often reported annually. Investors use it like a fuel‑efficiency report for a business: it reveals where emissions (and potential costs, regulations or reputational risks) are concentrated, shows progress toward climate targets, and helps compare companies on operational efficiency and future exposure to climate-related financial impacts.
operational decarbonization technical
"advancement of operational decarbonization efforts through boiler and controls improvements"
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals regulatory
"established performance targets aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals"
A set of 17 global goals adopted by all United Nations members to guide progress on issues like climate action, clean energy, health, education and economic inequality. Think of them as a universal checklist or roadmap for improving people’s lives and the planet; investors use the goals to judge long-term risks and opportunities, spot companies aligned with sustainable growth, and anticipate regulatory or market shifts that can affect returns.
smart home technology technical
"expansion of smart home technology across additional communities"
Smart home technology are devices and systems—like thermostats, locks, lights and cameras—that connect to the internet and each other so homeowners can monitor and control their houses remotely or automate routine tasks, much like giving a home a nervous system and a remote control. Investors care because these products can drive steady sales, recurring subscription fees, and data-driven services, while also carrying risks around privacy, interoperability and shifting consumer preferences that affect long-term revenue.
