How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Adjusted EBITDA financial
"Adjusted EBITDA, which excludes impairments and other charges"
Adjusted EBITDA is a way companies measure how much money they make from their core operations, like running a business, by removing certain costs or income that aren’t part of regular business activities. It helps investors see how well a company is doing without distractions from unusual expenses or gains, making it easier to compare companies or track performance over time.
adjusted operating margin financial
"adjusted operating margin is a non-GAAP financial measure"
Adjusted operating margin shows how much profit a company makes from its core business activities, after removing unusual or one-time costs and income. It helps investors see the company's true profitability by providing a clearer picture, similar to removing unexpected expenses to understand the regular performance. This metric is useful for comparing companies or tracking performance over time, as it highlights consistent earning power.
free cash flow financial
"Free cash flow is a non-GAAP financial measure"
Free cash flow is the amount of money a company has left over after paying all its expenses and investing in its business, like buying equipment or updating facilities. It shows how much cash is available to reward shareholders, pay down debt, or save for future growth. This helps investors understand if a company is financially healthy and able to grow.
Diluted weighted average common shares outstanding financial
"Diluted weighted average common shares outstanding"
The diluted weighted average common shares outstanding is the number of common shares, averaged over the reporting period and adjusted to include the effect of all potentially dilutive securities (for example, convertible bonds or preferred stock, stock options, warrants and similar instruments) that would reduce earnings per share if converted or exercised. It is calculated by taking the time-weighted average of actual common shares outstanding during the period and then adding incremental shares from convertibles and exercisable instruments using accepted accounting methods (commonly the if‑converted method for convertibles and the treasury‑stock method for options and warrants); securities that would be anti‑dilutive are excluded. This figure is used as the denominator in diluted earnings per share calculations and therefore reflects the maximum number of shares that could be outstanding for EPS purposes during the period under generally accepted accounting approaches.

HOUSTON – October 20, 2026 – Halliburton Company (NYSE: HAL) announced today net
income attributable to company of $417 million, or $0.50 per diluted share, for the third
quarter of 2026 and adjusted net income attributable to company4, excluding impairments
and other charges and tax adjustments, of $501 million, or $0.60 per diluted share. This
compares to net income attributable to company for the second quarter of 2026 of $534
million, or $0.64 per diluted share, and adjusted net income attributable to company,
excluding impairments and other credits and tax adjustments, of $461 million, or $0.55 per
diluted share.
Adjusted EBITDA5, which excludes impairments and other charges, was $1.0 billion in the
third quarter of 2026, compared to adjusted EBITDA of $948 million in the second quarter of
2026.
Halliburton’s total revenue for the third quarter of 2026 was $5.7 billion, flat when compared
to total revenue in the second quarter of 2026. Operating income was $624 million in the
third quarter of 2026, compared to operating income of $778 million in the second quarter of
2026. Adjusted operating income6 in the third quarter of 2026, excluding impairments and
other charges, was $731 million, compared to adjusted operating income of $683 million in
the second quarter of 2026.
“I am pleased with Halliburton’s third quarter results. Our revenue exceeded our
expectations, and we took important steps towards improving our margins.” commented Jeff
Miller, Chairman, President and CEO.
“We are another three months into one of the largest energy disruptions in history. I expect
the work to restore production, rebuild inventories and strengthen energy security will drive
multi-year demand growth for oilfield services,
“Based on our early outlook for 2027, I expect mid-single digit revenue growth and operating
margins of about 15%, an approximately 200 basis point improvement. This outlook
assumes a flat North America market and does not require any recovery in North America
hydraulic fracturing. To us, that recovery is purely upside,” concluded Miller.

Adjusted net income per diluted share is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated as:
“Adjusted net income attributable to company” divided by “Diluted weighted average common
shares outstanding.” Management believes adjusted net income per diluted share is useful to
investors to assess and understand operating performance. See Reconciliation of Net Income
Attributable to Company to Adjusted Net Income Attributable to Company in Footnote Table 2.
(2)
Adjusted operating margin is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated by dividing
“Adjusted operating income” by “Total revenue.” Management believes adjusted operating margin
is useful to investors to assess and understand operating performance. See Reconciliation of
Operating Income to Adjusted Operating Income in Footnote Table 1.
(3)
Free cash flow is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated as “Total cash flows
provided by operating activities” less “Capital expenditures” plus “Proceeds from sales of
property, plant, and equipment.” Management believes that free cash flow is a key measure to
assess liquidity of the business and is consistent with the disclosures of Halliburton's direct, large-
cap competitors. See Reconciliation of Cash Flows from Operating Activities to Free Cash Flow in
Footnote Table 3.
(4)
Adjusted net income attributable to company is a non-GAAP financial measure which is
calculated as: “Net income attributable to company” plus “Total adjustments, net of taxes” for the
respective periods. Management believes adjusted net income is useful to investors to assess
and understand operating performance, especially when comparing those results with previous
and subsequent periods or forecasting performance for future periods, primarily because
management views the excluded items to be outside of the company's normal operating results.
Management analyzes net income without the impact of these items as an indicator of
performance to identify underlying trends in the business and to establish operational goals. Total
adjustments remove the effect of these items. See Reconciliation of Net Income Attributable to
Company to Adjusted Net Income Attributable to Company in Footnote Table 2.

(5)
Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated as: “Net income,” before
“Interest expense, net,” “Income tax provision,” “Depreciation, depletion, and amortization,” and
excludes “Impairments and other charges (credits).” Management believes Adjusted EBITDA is a
key measure to assess and understand operating performance and is consistent with the
disclosures of Halliburton’s direct, large-cap competitors. See EBITDA, Adjusted EBITDA,
Related Margins, and Reconciliations schedule.
(6)
Adjusted operating income is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated as: “Operating
income” plus “Total impairments and other charges (credits)” for the respective periods.
Management believes that operating income adjusted for impairments and other charges (credits)
is useful to investors to assess and understand operating performance, especially when
comparing those results with previous and subsequent periods or forecasting performance for
future periods, primarily because management views the excluded items to be outside of the
company's normal operating results. Management analyzes operating income without the impact
of these items as an indicator of performance, to identify underlying trends in the business, and to
establish operational goals. The adjustments remove the effect of these items. See Reconciliation
of Operating Income to Adjusted Operating Income in Footnote Table 1.

EBITDA and EBITDA margin are non-GAAP financial measures. EBITDA is calculated as “Net income” before “Interest
expense, net,” “Income tax provision” and “Depreciation, depletion, and amortization” for the respective periods. EBITDA
margin is calculated as “EBITDA” divided by “Total revenue.” Management believes EBITDA and EBITDA margin are key
measures to assess and understand operating performance and are consistent with the disclosures of Halliburton’s direct,
large-cap competitors.
(b)
For the three and nine months ended September 30, 2025, adjusted EBITDA excludes a $23 million impairment on an
investment in Argentina.
(c)
See Footnote Table 1 for details of the impairments and other charges (credits) recorded during the three and nine months
ended September 30, 2026 and 2025, and the three months ended June 30, 2026.
(d)
Adjusted EBITDA margin is a non-GAAP financial measure which is calculated as: “Adjusted EBITDA” divided by “Total
revenue.” Management believes Adjusted EBITDA margin is a key measure to assess and understand operating performance
and is consistent with disclosures of Halliburton's direct, large-cap competitors.

During the three months ended September 30, 2026, Halliburton recognized a pre-tax charge of $107 million primarily related
to $107 million of severance costs associated with the rationalization of our global headcount, and $25 million of inventory

investment.
During the three months ended June 30, 2026, Halliburton recognized a pre-tax credit of $95 million primarily due to a $54
million gain resulting from changes in our ownership interest in an equity investment, and a $10 million gain from remeasuring
an equity investment to fair value. Other credits of $48 million were primarily due to a government refund recovery. These
gains were partially offset by a $17 million loss on the sale of a portion of our chemical business, which closed in April 2026.
During the three months ended September 30, 2025, Halliburton recognized a pre-tax charge of $392 million as a result of
severance costs, fixed and other assets write-offs, an impairment of assets held for sale, and other items.
(b)

gain primarily related to a $54 million gain resulting from changes in our ownership interest in an equity investment and a $36
million gain resulting from the sale of a portion of our shares in an equity investment.

severance costs, an impairment of assets held for sale, an impairment on real estate facilities, and other items, primarily
related to legacy environmental remediation cost estimate increases.
