interim dividend financial
"IHG’s Board announced an interim dividend for 2026 of 64.5 cents per share"
An interim dividend is a cash payment a company declares and often pays before its annual results are finalized, similar to a mid‑year bonus paid from current profits. It matters to investors because it delivers immediate income, signals the company’s short‑term cash strength and confidence in ongoing earnings, and can influence share price and investor expectations about future payouts.
WMR closing mid-point spot rate financial
"using the WMR closing mid-point spot rate as at 4:00pm (London time)"
CREST financial
"For shares held in CREST, an election for USD will be permitted"
A crest is the highest point reached by a price, indicator, or trend — like the top of a wave — before it levels off or turns downward. Investors watch crests because they signal potential turning points: a crest can mark a market peak where gains may slow or reverse, help time selling decisions, or indicate when a rally has run its course, much as a surfer reads a wave’s crest to decide when to ride or bail.
development pipeline financial
"and a development pipeline of a further 2,400 properties"
A development pipeline is the collection of products, drugs, or projects a company is actively creating, shown by the stage each one is in from early research to final approval or launch. For investors it acts like a roadmap of future revenue potential and risk—similar to a restaurant’s planned menu items at different stages of testing—because items farther along are likelier to generate sales while earlier-stage projects carry more uncertainty and longer timelines.
ADR financial
"IHG Hotels & Resorts (tickers for Ordinary Shares; for ADRs) is a global hospitality company"
An American Depositary Receipt (ADR) is a financial certificate that lets investors buy shares of a foreign company through U.S. stock markets, similar to buying a local wrapper that represents the underlying foreign shares. ADRs matter because they make investing in overseas companies easier and more liquid by trading in U.S. dollars and under U.S. market rules, while still carrying currency, regulatory, and country-specific risks that can affect share value.
