Forecasts are forward-looking estimates of a company’s future performance—such as sales, profits, or cash flow—based on current information and assumptions. They matter to investors because they shape expectations about value and risk, much like a weather forecast helps decide whether to carry an umbrella: optimistic forecasts can lift share prices, while disappointing ones can trigger selling or reassessment of investment decisions.
