Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

Adjusted EBITDA financial
"adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EBITDA margin"
Adjusted EBITDA is a way companies measure how much money they make from their core operations, like running a business, by removing certain costs or income that aren’t part of regular business activities. It helps investors see how well a company is doing without distractions from unusual expenses or gains, making it easier to compare companies or track performance over time.
Adjusted free cash flow financial
"does not represent our cash flow available for discretionary payments"
Adjusted free cash flow is the amount of money a company generates from its operations after accounting for essential expenses and investments, like maintaining or upgrading equipment. It shows how much cash is truly available to grow the business, pay debts, or return to shareholders, helping investors see the company's financial health more clearly.
Core price financial
"Core price is defined as price increases to our customers and fees"
Core price is a measure of general price changes that excludes highly volatile items—typically food and energy—so it highlights the underlying trend in what things cost. Investors watch core price because it gives a clearer signal of persistent inflation that can influence central bank decisions, interest rates and asset values; think of it as looking at the steady pattern after removing short-term weather-driven spikes.
Average yield financial
"revenue growth from the change in average price per unit of service"
Days sales outstanding financial
"resulting in days sales outstanding of 42.4"
Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) measures the average number of days a company takes to collect payment after making a sale. It tells investors how quickly sales are turning into cash—shorter DSO means the company gets paid faster and has more cash on hand, while longer DSO suggests cash is tied up with customers and increases the risk of late or lost payments; think of it like how long a borrower takes to repay a loan.
Revenue $4.559 billion 8.2% growth year over year

Item 2.02 Results of Operations and Financial Condition.
On October 29, 2026, Republic Services, Inc. (the Company) issued a press release containing information about the Company’s financial results for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026. A copy of this press release is furnished as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and is incorporated herein by reference.
Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
Updated Full-Year 2026 Financial Guidance
Our guidance is based on current economic conditions.
The Company expects full-year revenue to be in a range of $17,425 million to $17,475 million.
Net income attributable to Republic Services, Inc. is expected to be in a range of $2,210 million to $2,220 million for 2026. The Company raised its full-year adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization ("adjusted EBITDA") guidance and expects it to be in a range of $5,550 million to $5,575 million. Adjusted EBITDA consists of net income, plus provision for income taxes, which is expected to be in a range of $520 million to $525 million, plus interest expense, net, which is expected to be $610 million, plus depreciation, depletion, amortization and accretion, which is expected to be in a range of $2,025 million to $2,035 million, plus loss from unconsolidated equity method investments, which is expected to be $200 million, less other income, net, which is expected to be $30 million, plus restructuring charges, which are expected to be $15 million.
We believe that presenting adjusted EBITDA provides an understanding of operational activities before the financial impact of certain items. We use this measure, and believe investors will find it helpful, in understanding the ongoing performance of our operations separate from items that have a disproportionate impact on our results for a particular period. We have incurred comparable charges, costs and recoveries in prior periods, and similar types of adjustments can reasonably be expected to be recorded in future periods. Our definition of adjusted EBITDA may not be comparable to similarly titled measures presented by other companies.
Cash provided by operating activities is expected to be in a range of $4,510 million to $4,570 million for the full year. The Company raised its full-year adjusted free cash flow guidance for 2026 and expects it to be in a range of $2,565 million to $2,585 million. Adjusted free cash flow consists of cash provided by operating activities, less property and equipment received, which is expected to be in a range of $1,970 million to $2,010 million, plus proceeds from the sale of property and equipment of approximately $10 million, and is exclusive of cash paid for restructuring activities of approximately $15 million, net of tax.
We believe that presenting adjusted free cash flow provides useful information regarding our recurring cash provided by operating activities after certain expenditures or recoveries. It also demonstrates our ability to execute our financial strategy and is a key metric we use to determine compensation. The presentation of adjusted free cash flow has material limitations. Adjusted free cash flow does not represent our cash flow available for discretionary payments because it excludes certain payments that are required or to which we have committed, such as debt service requirements and dividend payments. Our definition of adjusted free cash flow may not be comparable to similarly titled measures presented by other companies.
For a reconciliation of adjusted EBITDA to net income attributable to Republic Services, Inc. guidance and adjusted free cash flow to cash provided by operating activities guidance, see page 13 and page 14 of the press release furnished as Exhibit 99.1 hereto.

Average yield is defined as revenue growth from the change in average price per unit of service, expressed as a percentage. Core price is defined as price increases to our customers and fees, excluding fuel recovery fees, net of price decreases to retain customers. We also measure changes in core price, average yield and volume as a percentage of related-business revenue, defined as total revenue excluding recycled commodities, fuel recovery fees and environmental solutions revenue, to determine the effectiveness of our pricing and organic growth strategies. The following table reflects core price, average yield and volume as a percentage of related-business revenue for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025:

We believe that presenting EBITDA and EBITDA margin is useful to investors because they provide important information concerning our operating performance exclusive of certain non-cash and other costs. EBITDA and EBITDA margin demonstrate our ability to execute our financial strategy, which includes reinvesting in existing capital assets to ensure a high level of customer service, investing in capital assets to facilitate growth in our customer base and services provided, maintaining our investment grade credit ratings and minimizing debt, paying cash dividends, repurchasing our common stock, and maintaining and improving our market position through business optimization. Although depreciation, depletion, amortization and accretion are considered operating costs in accordance with U.S. GAAP, they represent the allocation of non-cash costs generally associated with long-lived assets acquired or constructed in prior years.
We believe that presenting adjusted EBITDA and adjusted EBITDA margin, adjusted EBITDA margin by business type, adjusted pre-tax income, adjusted tax impact, adjusted net income - Republic, and adjusted diluted earnings per share provide an understanding of operational activities before the financial impact of certain items. We use these measures, and believe investors will find them helpful, in understanding the ongoing performance of our operations separate from items that have a disproportionate impact on our results for a particular period. We have incurred comparable charges, costs and recoveries in prior periods, and similar types of adjustments can reasonably be expected to be recorded in future periods.
Restructuring charges. During the three and nine months ended September 30, 2026, we incurred restructuring charges of $4 million and $10 million, respectively, and during the three and nine months ended September 30, 2025, we incurred restructuring charges of $3 million and $13 million, respectively. The charges in these periods related primarily to the design and implementation of our new accounts receivable system.
Labor disruption. During the three and nine months ended September 30, 2025, we experienced labor disruptions in certain isolated markets. The impact of these labor disruptions during both the three and nine months ended September 30, 2025 was $56 million, including $16 million of customer credits and $40 million of cost of operations.
Gain on business divestitures and impairments, net. During the nine months ended September 30, 2026, we recorded a net gain on business divestitures and impairments of $1 million.
Adjusted Free Cash Flow
The following table calculates our adjusted free cash flow, which is not a measure determined in accordance with U.S. GAAP, for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025 (in millions of dollars):
Nine Months Ended September 30,
20262025
Cash provided by operating activities$3,519 $3,315
Property and equipment received(1,259)(1,183)
Proceeds from sales of property and equipment9 10
Restructuring payments, net of tax7 7
Labor disruption, net of tax— 42
Adjusted free cash flow$2,276 $2,191
We believe that presenting adjusted free cash flow provides useful information regarding our recurring cash provided by operating activities after certain expenditures or recoveries. It also demonstrates our ability to execute our financial strategy and is a key metric we use to determine compensation. The presentation of adjusted free cash flow has material limitations. Adjusted free cash flow does not represent our cash flow available for discretionary payments because it excludes certain payments that are required or to which we have committed, such as debt service requirements and dividend payments.
Purchases of property and equipment as reflected on our consolidated statements of cash flows represent amounts paid during the period for such expenditures. A reconciliation of property and equipment expenditures reflected on our consolidated statements of cash flows to property and equipment received during the period follows for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 and 2025 (in millions of dollars):
Nine Months Ended September 30,
20262025
Purchases of property and equipment per the unaudited consolidated statements of cash flows
$1,363 $1,310
Adjustments for property and equipment received in a different period
(104)(127)
Property and equipment received during the period$1,259 $1,183
12

The adjustments noted above do not affect our net change in cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and restricted cash equivalents as reflected in our consolidated statements of cash flows.
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
As of September 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025, accounts receivable were $2,126 million and $1,897 million, net of allowance for doubtful accounts of $59 million and $66 million, respectively, resulting in days sales outstanding of 42.4, or 32.8 days net of deferred revenue, compared to 41.8, or 30.8 days net of deferred revenue, respectively.
CASH DIVIDENDS
In July 2026, we paid a cash dividend of $191 million to shareholders of record as of July 2, 2026. As of September 30, 2026, we recorded a quarterly dividend payable of $205 million to shareholders of record at the close of business on October 2, 2026, which was paid on October 15, 2026.
SHARE REPURCHASE PROGRAM
During the three months ended September 30, 2026, we repurchased 0.9 million shares of our common stock for $197 million at a weighted average cost per share of $215.18. As of September 30, 2026, the remaining authorized purchase capacity under our October 2023 repurchase program was approximately $0.8 billion.

Our financial guidance is based on current economic conditions and does not assume any significant changes in the overall economy for the remainder of 2026.
