Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

Rhea-AI Filing Summary

Solitron Devices, Inc. reported fiscal 2027 second-quarter revenue of $5.657 million, compared with $5.44 million in the first quarter and $3.986 million in the year-earlier quarter; the company attributed the increase to its strong backlog. Net income was $1.298 million, versus a net loss of $234,000 in the year-earlier quarter. For the six months ended August 31, 2026, net sales were $11.093 million and net income was $2.288 million, compared with $6.686 million in sales and a $570,000 net loss a year earlier.

Backlog remained at record levels, reaching $24.11 million at the end of the quarter, compared with $23.34 million at fiscal 2027 first-quarter end. Net income included $200,000 in professional fees recorded in SG&A for an investment banker retained to assist with exploring strategic alternatives. The company expects sales to remain at this level or greater for the rest of fiscal 2027 and currently expects the next AMRAAM order in fiscal fourth quarter. Potential multi-year orders for AMRAAM and Standard Missiles 2, 3 and 6 remain subject to Congressional funding.

Solitron said no actual income taxes were due because it has deferred tax assets related to previous net operating losses.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

backlog financial
"Backlog increased from $23.34 million ... to $24.11 million"
A backlog is the amount of work or orders that a company has received but hasn't completed yet. It’s like a restaurant with many dishes to serve; the backlog shows how many orders are still waiting to be finished. It matters because a large backlog can indicate strong demand or potential delays in delivering products or services.
SG&A financial
"$200,000 in professional fees recorded to SG&A"
SG&A stands for Selling, General, and Administrative expenses. It includes the costs a company spends on selling products, running the business day-to-day, and managing staff, like advertising, rent, and salaries. These expenses matter because they affect how much profit a company can make from its sales.
deferred tax assets financial
"deferred tax assets related to previous net operating losses"
An item on a company’s balance sheet showing tax benefits it can use later to reduce future tax bills — think of it as an IOU from the tax system for past losses or timing differences. It matters to investors because it can boost future cash flow and apparent value if the company expects profits ahead, but those benefits vanish if the company cannot generate taxable income and the asset must be reduced.
contingent consideration expense financial
"Contingent consideration expense"
Net sales $5.657 million Compared with $3.986 million in the year-earlier quarter.
Net income $1.298 million Compared with a net loss of $234,000 in the year-earlier quarter.
Six-month net sales $11.093 million Compared with $6.686 million in the year-earlier period.
Six-month net income $2.288 million Compared with a net loss of $570,000 in the year-earlier period.
Guidance

The company anticipates sales to continue at this level or greater for the remainder of fiscal 2027 and currently expects the next AMRAAM order in fiscal fourth quarter.

SOLITRON DEVICES, INC. ANNOUNCES FISCAL 2027 SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Solitron Devices, Inc. (OTC Pink: SODI) (“Solitron” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce fiscal 2027 second quarter results.

FISCAL 2027 SECOND QUARTER HIGHLIGHTS –

arrow01.jpg

Net sales increased 42% to approximately $5.66 million in the fiscal 2027 second quarter versus $3.99 million in the fiscal 2026 second quarter.

  arrow01.jpg

Net bookings increased 48% to $6.42 million in the fiscal 2027 second quarter versus $4.32 million in the prior year second quarter.

  arrow01.jpg

Backlog increased 29% to $24.11 million at the end of the fiscal 2027 second quarter as compared to $18.64 million at the end of the fiscal 2026 second quarter.

  arrow01.jpg

Net income was $1.30 million, or $0.60 per share, for the fiscal 2027 second quarter versus net loss of ($.23) million, or ($0.11) per share, for the fiscal 2026 second quarter.

Revenue increased in the fiscal 2027 second quarter to $5.66 million from $5.44 million during the first quarter, due to the Company’s strong backlog. As previously noted in our last press release, we anticipate sales to continue to be at this level or greater for the remainder of the 2027 fiscal year.

In addition, the Company’s backlog continues to remain at record levels. Backlog increased from $23.34 million at the end of fiscal 2027 first quarter to $24.11 million at the end of fiscal 2027 second quarter.

This quarter’s net income was negatively impacted by $200,000 in professional fees recorded to SG&A related to the retention of an investment banker to assist in the company’s exploration of strategic alternatives, as noted in the Company’s fiscal 2027 first quarter press release. Also included in SG&A costs for the fiscal 2027 and 2026 second quarters are $52,000 of intangible amortization.

While the income statement reflects income taxes, no actual income taxes were due as the Company has deferred tax assets related to previous net operating losses.

We continue to be encouraged about the possibility of multi-year orders for components on AMRAAM and Standard Missiles 2, 3 and 6. RTX and the Pentagon announced multi-year agreements in October for both programs. Both agreements require Congressional funding. Our current expectation is for the next AMRAAM order to be received in the fiscal fourth quarter.
