Rhea-AI Filing Summary

WD-40 Company reported fiscal 2026 net sales of $688.0 million, up 11%, while maintenance-product sales rose 13% to $665.9 million. Operating income increased 5% to $108.9 million, but net income declined 10% to $82.3 million and diluted EPS was $6.08 versus $6.69. Fourth-quarter sales rose 8% to $176.8 million, while operating income and net income each fell 32%, to $19.1 million and $14.4 million. Gross margin was 52.8%, versus 54.7%; WD-40 said higher specialty-chemical and other input costs pressured it. How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

constant currency financial
"On a constant currency basis, net sales increased 7% to $666.2 million."
Constant currency is a way of measuring financial results that removes the effects of changes in currency exchange rates. It allows for a clearer comparison of a company's performance over time by showing what the numbers would look like if exchange rates had stayed the same. This helps investors understand whether growth comes from actual business improvements or just currency fluctuations.
gross margin financial
"Gross margin decreased to 52.8% compared to 54.7%."
Gross margin is the difference between how much money a company makes from selling its products and how much it costs to produce them, expressed as a percentage of sales. It shows how efficiently a company is turning sales into profit before other expenses like marketing or salaries. Higher gross margin means the company keeps more money from each sale, which is a good sign of financial health.
uncertain tax position financial
"release of an uncertain tax position"
An uncertain tax position is when a company takes a tax treatment on its returns but there is a real chance a tax authority could disagree, leading to additional taxes, interest or penalties. Investors care because resolving that disagreement can change a company’s reported profits and cash on hand — like getting a surprise bill after a meal — so it affects valuation, risk and future cash flow forecasts.
weighted average shares outstanding financial
"based on an estimated 13.4 million weighted average shares outstanding"
The weighted average shares outstanding is the average number of a company’s common shares that were available during a reporting period, adjusted so each change (like new shares issued or shares bought back) counts only for the portion of the period it was in effect. Investors use it to calculate per-share measures such as earnings per share, so it shows how ownership dilution or buybacks affect what each share is entitled to—like averaging how many people were at a potluck over time to determine each person’s share of the food.
Fiscal-year net sales $688.0 million Up 11%
Fiscal-year operating income $108.9 million Up 5%
Fiscal-year net income $82.3 million Down 10%
Fiscal-year diluted EPS $6.08 per share Compared with $6.69

•Net sales increased 11% to $688.0 million. On a constant currency basis, net sales increased 7% to $666.2 million.
•Net sales of maintenance products increased 13% to $665.9 million. On a constant currency basis, maintenance product sales increased 9% to $644.7 million.

•Operating income improved 5% to $108.9 million.
•Net income decreased 10% to $82.3 million, and diluted earnings per share were $6.08, compared with $6.69. The decrease reflects a favorable $11.9 million income tax adjustment in fiscal year 2025 related to the release of an uncertain tax position.⁽¹⁾
•Excluding that prior-year tax benefit and $1.3 million of amortization expense in fiscal year 2026 related to the reclassification of certain homecare and cleaning products in the Americas from held for sale to held for use, non-GAAP operating income improved 6% to $110.2 million, non-GAAP net income increased 6% to $83.7 million and non-GAAP diluted EPS increased 6% to $6.18.
Fourth Quarter Summary (Compared with Fourth Quarter Fiscal Year 2025)
•Net sales increased 8% to $176.8 million. On a constant currency basis, net sales increased 7% to $174.9 million.
•Net sales of maintenance products increased 9% to $170.5 million. On a constant currency basis, maintenance product sales increased 8% to $168.8 million.

"Fiscal year 2026 demonstrated the resilience of our business and the strength of our execution," said Steve Brass, president and chief executive officer of WD-40 Company. “We grew net sales 11%, grew maintenance product sales at the top of our long-term target range, and delivered results in line with guidance. Our globally decentralized supply chain continued to be a competitive advantage, helping us navigate volatility, deliver exceptional customer service and generate cost savings.
1

"Our fourth quarter financial results reflect higher input costs and continued investment in our people and brands. Higher costs for specialty chemicals and other inputs pressured gross margin. Based on what we know today, we believe our fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026 marked the low point for gross margin, and we anticipate sequential improvement beginning in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased primarily due to performance-based incentive compensation earned by every employee, along with higher freight costs to keep products available for customers. Higher advertising and sales promotion expenses supported sales growth and brand building.
"We manage WD-40 Company for the long term. We see significant remaining opportunity for WD-40® Brand around the world and a long runway for growth. A resilient business model, durable competitive advantages, strong cash flow generation and disciplined capital allocation give us confidence in our ability to deliver sustainable growth and create long-term value for stockholders. Most importantly, our people turn that opportunity into results, and their commitment, capability and passion make our business stronger every year," concluded Brass.
