The raised annual outlook contrasts with lower quarterly net income following a $39.1 million unrealized investment loss.

Sentiment and the balance of points

Rhea-AI Sentiment reads the wording of the document, how positive or negative its language is on a 1 to 5 scale. The balance of points shown with the takes weighs what the document actually discloses, so the two can disagree, for example when a trial that missed its main goal is described in upbeat language.

How this balance works

Rhea-AI gives every point it takes from this document a weight. Minor counts 1, Moderate 3 and Major 9, so one Major point outweighs several Minor ones. The bar adds up the weights on each side, and when neither side holds more than 65% of the total the balance reads Mixed.

It reads the document as published, with the same rules for every company, and it does not look at what the market expected or at how the stock traded, so a point can be objectively good on a day the stock falls.

Rhea-AI Sentiment measures something else, the tone of the wording.

4 terms
gaap financial
"U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”)"
GAAP, or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, are a set of standardized rules and guidelines that companies follow when preparing their financial statements. They ensure consistency, transparency, and comparability across different companies, making it easier for investors to understand and compare financial information accurately. This helps investors make informed decisions based on trustworthy and uniform financial reports.
View in glossary
non-gaap financial measures financial
"Non-GAAP financial measures exclude stock-based compensation"
Non-GAAP financial measures are numbers companies use to show their financial performance that exclude certain expenses or income. They help investors see how the company might perform without one-time costs or other unusual items, giving a different perspective from official reports. However, since they can be adjusted, they don’t always tell the full story and should be looked at alongside standard financial figures.
mark-to-market financial
"The value is marked-to-market quarterly"
"Mark-to-market" is a method of valuing assets or investments based on their current market price, rather than their original cost or value. It helps investors see the most up-to-date worth of their holdings, much like checking the latest price of a stock before deciding to buy or sell. This approach ensures that financial statements reflect real-time value, providing a clearer picture of overall financial health.
electroplating technical
"panel-level horizontal electroplating production tool"
Electroplating is a manufacturing process that uses an electric current to deposit a thin layer of metal onto the surface of another material, much like spray-painting metal onto an object but with electricity controlling the coating. It matters to investors because this coating can improve a product’s durability, appearance and resistance to corrosion, affect production costs and material demand, and raise environmental or regulatory risks tied to metal sourcing and wastewater handling.

FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ACM Research, Inc. (“ACM”) (NASDAQ: ACMR), a leading supplier of wafer processing solutions for semiconductor and advanced wafer-level packaging applications, today reported financial results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2026.

“We delivered another strong quarter, with revenue increasing 37% and shipments growing 31% year over year,” said Dr. David Wang, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACM. “Demand for our differentiated technologies remains robust across our expanding product portfolio, with ECP and advanced packaging leading our growth, and our cleaning category returning to year-over-year growth. The second building of our Lingang manufacturing facility is coming online in the fourth quarter, doubling our manufacturing floor space to support future growth.”

“We are seeing increased traction for our high-temperature SPM systems. In October, we introduced an enhanced Single-Wafer Hot SPM system with sulfuric acid recycling, further expanding our cleaning technology portfolio. In advanced packaging, we achieved an important milestone with the shipment last month to a customer in Asia of our first 310×310 mm Ultra ECP ap-p panel-level horizontal electroplating production tool. We see a significant opportunity to play an enabling role as large size AI chips drive increasingly complex 2.5D and 3D packaging requirements.”

“Our global customer engagements are progressing, with growing engagements and equipment installations outside mainland China. To support this momentum, we are investing in global sales, engineering, and customer support to serve leading semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. Our expanding capabilities in Asia and continued investment in our Oregon operations facility represent important steps to build a more localized and responsive global operating platform.”

Dr. Wang concluded, "We are raising our 2026 revenue outlook, and now expect revenue above the upper end of our prior  range. Looking ahead, we believe our broadening and differentiated product portfolio, our global footprint, and our customer relationships position us to capture new market opportunities and deliver sustainable long-term growth.”

Outlook

ACM is raising its revenue guidance range for fiscal year 2026 to $1.24 billion to $1.28 billion, which would represent 38% to 42% growth, compared to its previous guidance range of $1.125 billion to $1.175 billion. The revised outlook reflects continued strong customer demand and expectations for robust shipment growth in the fourth quarter. This expectation is based on ACM management’s current assessment of the continuing impact of international trade policy, various expected spending scenarios of key customers, supply chain constraints, and the timing of acceptances for first tools under evaluation in the field, among other factors.

Operating Highlights and Recent Announcements

  • Shipments. Total shipments in the third quarter of 2026 were $343.5 million, up 30.6% when compared to the third quarter of 2025. Total shipments include deliveries for revenue in the quarter and deliveries of first tools awaiting customer acceptance for potential revenue in future quarters.
  • Shipped First 310 × 310 mm Panel-Level Horizontal ECP Production Tool. In October, ACM announced the shipment of its first 310 × 310 mm Ultra ECP ap-p panel-level horizontal electroplating production tool to a customer in Asia. The shipment demonstrates ACM's ability to quickly advance product development per customer requirements and follows last year's shipment of its first 515 × 510 mm R&D tool, highlighting ACM's ability to rapidly commercialize technology breakthroughs into scale production.
  • Enhanced Single-Wafer Hot SPM System with Sulfuric Acid Recycle Capability. In October, ACM introduced an enhanced version of its Single-Wafer Hot SPM system featuring a new sulfuric acid recycle capability that achieves a 70% recycle rate while maintaining stringent particle control. The system is expected to save approximately 400 tons of sulfuric acid per tool annually, reducing chemical consumption and operating costs.
  • High-Temperature SPM Innovation Award. In October, ACM Research (Shanghai), Inc. (“ACM Shanghai”), ACM’s principal operating subsidiary, received an Innovation Achievement Award at the China International Industry Fair for its single-wafer high-temperature SPM cleaning equipment.

Third Quarter 2026 Financial Summary

Unless otherwise noted, the following figures refer to the third quarter of 2026 and comparisons are with the third quarter of 2025.

  • Revenue was $367.7 million, up 36.6%, primarily driven by higher sales of ECP (front-end and packaging), furnace and other technologies, as well as increased sales of single-wafer cleaning, Tahoe and semi-critical cleaning equipment, and advanced packaging (excluding ECP), services and spares.
  • Gross margin was 41.5% versus 42.0%. Non-GAAP gross margin, which excludes stock-based compensation, was 41.6% versus 42.1%. Gross margin was slightly below ACM’s long-term business model target range of 42% to 48%. ACM expects gross margin to vary from period to period due to a variety of factors, such as product mix, currency impacts and sales volume.
  • Operating expenses were $96.9 million, an increase of 15.0%. Operating expenses as a percentage of revenue decreased to 26.3% from 31.3%. Non-GAAP operating expenses, which exclude the effect of stock-based compensation, were $86.7 million, up 12.7%. Non-GAAP operating expenses as a percentage of revenue decreased to 23.6% from 28.6%.
  • Operating income was $55.5 million, compared to $28.9 million. Operating margin was 15.1% compared to 10.7%. Non-GAAP operating income, which excludes the effect of stock-based compensation, was $66.2 million, compared to $36.5 million. Non-GAAP operating margin, which excludes stock-based compensation, was 18.0% compared to 13.6%.
  • Unrealized loss on short-term investments was $39.1 million, compared to an unrealized gain of $18.7 million. Unrealized gain (loss) reflects the change in market value of investments by ACM Shanghai. The value is marked-to-market quarterly and is excluded in the non-GAAP financial metrics.
  • Income tax expense was $1.9 million, compared to $2.7 million. The change in tax expense primarily resulted from the tax effect of a decrease in pre-tax income for the period.
  • Net income attributable to ACM Research, Inc. was $1.5 million, compared to $35.9 million.  Non-GAAP net income attributable to ACM, which excludes the effect of stock-based compensation and unrealized gain (loss) on short-term investments, and its impact to net income attributable to non-controlling interests, was $40.5 million, compared to $28.4 million.
  • Net income per diluted share attributable to ACM Research, Inc. was $0.02, compared to $0.52.  Non-GAAP net income per diluted share, which excludes the effect of stock-based compensation and unrealized gain (loss) on short-term investments, and its impact to net income attributable to non-controlling interests, was $0.55, compared to $0.41.
  • Cash and cash equivalents, plus restricted cash and short-term time deposits were $1.28 billion at September 30, 2026, compared to $1.36 billion at June 30, 2026. Use of Non-GAAP Financial Measures

ACM presents non-GAAP gross margin, operating expenses, operating income, net income attributable to ACM and basic and diluted earnings per share as supplemental measures to GAAP financial measures regarding ACM’s operational performance. These supplemental measures exclude the impact of stock-based compensation, which ACM does not believe is indicative of its core operating results. In addition, non-GAAP net income attributable to ACM and basic and diluted earnings per share exclude the effect of stock-based compensation and unrealized gain (loss) on short-term investments and, beginning in the three months ended June 30, 2026, its impact to net income attributable to non-controlling interests, which ACM also believes are not indicative of its core operating results. A reconciliation of each non-GAAP financial measure to the most directly comparable GAAP financial measure is provided below under “Reconciliation of GAAP to non-GAAP Financial Measures.”

ACM believes these non-GAAP financial measures are useful to investors in assessing its operating performance. ACM uses these financial measures internally to evaluate its operating performance and for planning and forecasting of future periods. Financial analysts may focus on and publish both historical results and future projections based on the non-GAAP financial measures. ACM also believes it is in the best interests of investors for ACM to provide this non-GAAP information.

While ACM believes these non-GAAP financial measures provide useful supplemental information to investors, there are limitations associated with the use of these non-GAAP financial measures. These non-GAAP financial measures may not be reported by competitors, and they may not be directly comparable to similarly titled measures of other companies due to differences in calculation methodologies. The non-GAAP financial measures are not an alternative to GAAP information and are not meant to be considered in isolation or as a substitute for comparable GAAP financial measures. They should be used only as a supplement to GAAP information and should be considered only in conjunction with ACM’s consolidated financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP.

Reconciliation of GAAP to Non-GAAP Financial Measures

As described under “Use of Non-GAAP Financial Measures” above, ACM presents non-GAAP gross margin, operating expenses, operating income, net income attributable to ACM, and basic and diluted earnings per share as supplemental measures to GAAP financial measures, each of which excludes stock-based compensation (“SBC”) from the equivalent GAAP financial line items. In addition, non-GAAP net income attributable to ACM, and basic and diluted earnings per share exclude unrealized gain (loss) on short-term investments and, beginning in the three months ended June 30, 2026, its impact to net income attributable to non-controlling interests. The following tables reconcile gross margin, operating expenses, operating income, net income attributable to ACM, and basic and diluted earnings per share to the related non-GAAP financial measures:
